Arch Hangar

Description
A massive hangar for massive aircraft. It's mostly based on a real building[www.loc.gov] in Maine, but not a 1:1 copy. It is built to the same scale, however - you will need a ~14x12 unit space to place it in game! Functionally, it does nothing and acts as a park.

It has a detailed interior, with transparent glass and open-able doors w/ sub-mesh flags. To open the doors, just rename the building to anything other than the default name, see the screenshot for an example.

For the most flexibility, the building has no props, not even lights. If you want lighting or interior detail with props, you'll have to do it yourself..

I had trouble deciding whether to include the interior floor, or have no floor and rely on theme pavement. In the end I figured it was better to include the floor and let you place ploppable surfaces on top if preferred. Using surfaces will look a bit better and also means you can move markings and decals onto the floor of the hangar if you want ;)

The metal and door color is adjustable with Painter mod, lighter/less saturated colors work best.

Reasonable tri count (~9000-ish), 2048x2048 texture for the building and (shared) 1024x1024 for the doors and glass.

It looks exactly like the B-52 Corrosion Control hangar at Andersen AFB, Guam. Spend 4 great years on that rock.

I actually went to high school near your prototype. Loring is such a cool place if you are into semi-abandoned stuff like that. At graduation, we often launched a ton of model rockets from the runways near there.

Ahh, thanks so much!!
I did plan to make some smaller hangars using the same texture - I imagined those would be a bit more useful/re-usable for people who aren't focusing on airports as well ^^

Can't understand why this isn;t getting the love it deserves. I have no intention of making an airport but I can't not have this in my city.

ooh! I'll be eager to see any upcoming airports :D

I used this to store my helicopters lol, but it might also find use in other airports soon

at first I was confused, but then I got it!

@hydranine - Woah! If I've been able to evoke memories of somewhere I've never been, that's really high praise indeed. Cheers!

Love this asset @Spence! There is a handful of these still around across installations in the United States. One of those is at Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota. I was stationed there at one time. It's massive inside--we used to run four laps around it inside as part of physical training during the winter months. Looking forward to more of your conten--evokes memories. Thanks for creating, sharing, and taking me back!
