1st place in the first Vaultmaps contest!

The Combine found a powerful source of energy in a desertic cave and they are going to use it against the resistance.
You need to make your way deep down the Xen infested cave and steal that battery from them. A few surprises are waiting for you, so you better be prepared.

FEATURES:

Custom voice acting
-> A resistance member will be guiding you through your whole journey via headset.

Rock climbing
-> With this new mechanic you will be able to climb specific rocks/cliffs. You can use this to your advantage to find resources around the cave.

Gravity Puzzles
-> Messing around with gravity is cool, isn't it?

What are the differences between this version and the one from the Vault maps (check it here) pack?

-Bug/glitch fixes
-Better clipping for smoother locomotion
-New Post Processing effects such as bloom and color correction
-Adjusted the volume of certain voice lines that were too quiet
-Additional visual and gameplay details
-Changes in the Combine combat strategy

@sxeraserhead I havent updated this map in a while... maybe it's a bug caused by a new Half Life Alyx update. Try shoting the blue xen slime on the cave ceiling with your pistol instead of using grenades.

For some reason I can't get past that part near the beginning with two pits either, throwing grenades upwards does nothing even though that works in video playthroughs I've seen. Oh well.

Yet to play myself, though with the Skummeh playthrough I look forward to seeing it in flesh. . . as it were. I have a question though. Are you planning on making an additional map to the unknown power source ?


I was working on a similar cave map myself and this has inspired me to go back and revisit it.

Awesome mod. Climbing mode and gravity puzzles are a fantastic idea.
