Better Flight Controls
By NewGameNate
By default the game uses some... Interesting joystick controls. This is just a short guide on what settings to change to make the flight controls much better and in line with most other games when using a HOTAS.

Flight Stick controls
The first thing you'll want to do is immediately navigate to the control options, select remap controls, and then the flightstick option at the top.

After doing that you want to

  • Change Yaw to either twist or rudder, depending on your HOTAS setup
  • Range Roll to the stick's X axis

Important
For some reason, this stopped my throttle from working. However, all that I needed to do to fix it was bind it again.
Other tweaks
By default, Invert Flight is disabled. Enable it in the controls menu (not the remapping menu), it took me a while to realise why flying felt so weird until I noticed it and then it felt great.

Important again
If your thruster isn't working, just go to the remapping menu and bind it again. It seems like rebinding controls for the first time makes the game stop looking for a generic throttle input and start looking for throttle Y input instead, which isn't bound by default. (At least that's my guess at what happened)

This took me from barely being able to follow the squad leader in the tutorial to weaving through debris and scenery, honestly I'm confused as to why it isn't the default layout.

@Solid Pingu thank you, I have managed to find it, it was complicated because I am using a joystick with only 8 buttons and the keyboard on the PC.

@Konradusll there is a button to quit the game in the options menu I believe. It might be at the bottom.

how should we quit the game and return to the Steam GUI when we want to end for the day? I haven't been able to find a key or menu voice so far so I have to Alt+Enter and then stop from windows...

I found putting roll on my rudder to be better (once I got used to it) since this game requires a lot of aiming, having the yaw on my stick makes me more accurate.
And it really made a difference, like 4 to 5 more kills a match difference.

i suggest to buy in amazon for 20 eruros or more less a 3 toot switch fs3-p .
for thrust brake and turbo.... you can use like on assigned botton with others games or application in windows 32 or 64 bit, it's very cheap and that work in every situation: have a icon to setup about what you need in 1 second, really good and for allpoor or rich guests. try it

@Joku218

There isn't a specific option for it like there is for pitch but you can go to the remap control menu and just reverse the controls for yaw to invert it.

They need an option to invert the Yaw... Inverting Pitch is there, and that's always the first thing I do with any flight game, but to since the Yaw is critical...

Get on it EA! Where is my smooth flight option? Please add ***Invert Yaw*** option to Controls Menu ;)

This game is really so amazing though. Just need my edge. Wish it was an option, 'cause I'm having trouble sync'n turns to get the critical shots off!
