Step 1: Spawning
(Recommanded to start first on a low pop. server)
Okay, so 90% of the time you would first mostly likely spawn on the coast between Elektro and Berezino. (Marked in red) Now, if you spawn and have no idea where you spawned I normally tell people to take a screenshot of where they spawned and upload it to steam. And you can do the same, just take a screenshot, upload it then tell a friend who you think knows the map pretty well to look at it and elp you find where you're located. If you don't have anyone that can do that you can also go to www.dayzdb.com and fine a road sign of a town and look it up on that website. After you did that you can move on to step 2.
Step 2: Food
Now after you've found out where you spawned you can try to find some loot. As of the current update to the game you always spawn hungry so the first thing you want to find is something to eat if you even want to have a chance at surviving. If you spawn at Berezino or near it the best thing to do is go in the apartment buildings. Normally rice or cereal can be found in there. Those are the best items to find because it fill your hunger up pretty well but there's one downside to that and that is you'll be thrisy. If you spawn in or near Elektro you could go to the office building because normally you can find rice or cereal there. Now if you don't want rice or cereal you could always go find some good ol' can goods. But in order you'll need to open it. Now to open can food you would need to find a sharp object such as a screwdriver, axe, knife, etc, but when you use any of those items you will always loose a good percentage of your food. The best thing to find if you're going for can goods is a can opener because you would never waste your food therefore allowing you to become less hungry faster and taking less cans
Step 3: Water
Now after you've eaten you would want to get something to drink, because everyone should know that without water you would die. Now the first thing you might think is "Oh that's easy just drink from the ocean behide me" Nah, not going to be that easy your going to have to go look for some freash water. Now you might think "Well that's dumb there's nothing but water here." Well if you don't know ocean water has salt and if you drink salt water it'll just make you even more thirsy and drink to much it'll kill you. Now, how to find freash water is quite easy because you can find at least one water well in most towns. Or you don't happen to find a well for some reason you always have canteens and waters bottles or even soda. So drinks couldn't be that hard to find.........right?

Now on the step 4
Step 4: Item Spaces
Now that you have some food and water you can go get loot now. So the first thing you would want to find is some else to carry your loot in once you find it, such as a small backpack and cargo pants, and a shirt/jacket of some kind that allows you to carry loot in it. Mountain backpacks (Carries the most loot) can normally be found in military looting areas such has a airfield or a army base. Any other clothing can normally be found pretty much anywhere along the map.
Step 5: Medical Supply
There are many types of medical supply that do different things. Such as a blood bag can restore your health back to full if your screen is dull and grey, but blood bags can also kill because if you take blood from the wrong person with the wrong person it could kill you and you would have to start all over again with finding loot and such. One of the best ways to avoid that is by using a blood test kit to identify your blood type, once you identify your blood type you can then take blood from someone with the same blood type as you or blood type that's compatible with your body. But the easiest wasy yo avoid blood bags altogether is by using saline bags. Saline bags have the same affect as blood bags but you can't get sick from it like you can from a blood bag. And the ways both of these are used is A. It must have a IV kit in it and B. You have to have someone else give it to you, you can noy give it to yourself. Another way to heal yourself is by keeping your health up. And they way you do that is by being fully energized and hydrated, and that comes from eating and drinking. Banages/rags can be used to stop yourself from bleeding if you get hurt by a zombie or a player. The best thing about rags is you can craft them out of most shirts and badanas so ever you ever find a shirt or badnana you might want to take a look at it because it might save your life some day.
Step 6: Weapons
Now that you've found yourself some good loot and clothing you want to get yourself a weapon, now melee weapons commonly spawn around the map, so that shouldn't be a problem to find. But guns would be a bit harder, like mountains backpacks most good guns spawn in military loot areas such as a army base or a airfield but there are in fact some low powered guns that spawn in certains building accross the map such as the fire station, super market, or office building. Most guns are customizable such as putting a new sight or your M4 or putting a flash light on your pistol, but like everything else you have to find
Step 7: Meeting other players
Now that you've got yourself a gun, some good loot you're ready to take on other players, first up, if you meet another player with a gun never stay directly in front of him because he/she might just decide to shoot you. Now if you decide to shoot a player try to aim for the head because if you hit the body area anything he/she had on their body such has in a vest would be ruined, and once you ruin a item you can use it at all. Or you can take another look on things and be the nice guy/hero instead of a cold hearted bandit by simply doing small things such as giving a new spawn food or drinks or helping with directions. It's not always fun to be helpful but atleast you don't be a jerk like most people and shoot on sight.

Have a nice time surviving and please leave a comment and like this. I enjoy getting feedback from other people and having people correct my mistakes so yeah. Bye!

anybody else having a hard time finding food? Every where is empty.

My first play through about two days ago I came across a house 20 meters north of the Black Lake, North of Berezino and this house was riddled with backpacks, clothes, can o' food, and weapons and ammo. But all the villages and towns had none and since then I haven't been able to find anything anywhere. I even went back to that house and nothing...
