Fact is that Jesus started the Catholic Church, the papal mandate came directly from Him (as opposed to for example the 5 patriarch-system) and the Apostles adhered to this structure and their succesors have carried this on. That same Church would compile the bible in the 4th century and exclusively has the authority to explain it's content.
And it is confirmed over and over again within the Ecumenical Councils. The acts of the council of Chalcedon calls the pope the head of all the churches and blessed saint Peter "the rock of the Catholic Church and the foundation of the orthodox faith". They proclaim also that the Apostolic See will never fall into error and remain as such until the very end.
Or are you going to reject the council and sit next to the condemned Christological-heretic Dioscorus?
