Red squares and arrows indicate a unique promotion path only that class can use.

Crossbowman and Archers uniquely promote to Warbow.
Apprentices promote to the three Mages only.
Swordfighter promotes to Valkyrie but NOT Paladin.

The rest should be self-explanatory. Happy gaming!

Hey Rafah. If you play the game normally you can just grab any merc with 50+ LDR and make them the boss of a squad. Eventually, you'll get stupidly better and better mercs as the chapters progress. It's not uncommon to have mercs with 100+ LDR in the endgame and you can field literally any units you want. Easy!

I tend not to put mercs on a squad since they cost so much capacity, I only make them leaders of squads.

Friend, I know the post is a little old, but I have a question. Should mercenary characters be squad leaders to be able to become loyal or should they just be added to squads with existing leaders?

Militia -> Acolyte can upgrade to gunner classes also. Just noticed that.

I have a Medic -> Priestess who can now upgrade into a Gunner and Siege Cannon. I think the note about only male classes being able to upgrade into Gunners and Siege Cannons must be wrong.
