Nr. 2 when you read a prayer: Move on WITHOUT a fight.
the Old Church location seems to have random results when investigated. I observed:
1) Recover health
2) Find +5 roubles
3) "Chort gambling den". Options are to fight, play cards, or leave. I only tested the fighting, which rewards +5 roubles and +175 XP. This matches the fight you described with the two demons, one with a recitation attack.
Thanks for your hard work!
