Aztec Factions and Culture Patch will add three altépetl to your game: civil, rough and hostile. I used Faction Customizer to turn them into the three largest altépetl of ancient Mesoamerica. The civil altépetl is the Republic of Tlaxcallan, which reached its golden age under Spaniard rule and were quick to accept the Hispanic culture and the Catholic faith as they finally achieved a peaceful life under Felipe II. Rough altépetl is Huexotzingo, a loose coalition of nahua people who didn't seek great expansion but were always up to fight anyone; mexicas, chichimecas, toltecas, mayas, spaniards, portuguese, anyone was fair game. Hostile altépetl is the dreaded kingdom of México-Tenochtitlan, which ruled the region of Anáhuac with an iron fist for 400 years; only the Spaniards could put an end to their reign of terror.
