El aclamado en salas recreativas y en Super Nintendo llega a Sega Megadrive/Genesis con la primera revisión de esta saga de Capcom,  con sus aclamados 24 megas y que como novedades mas destacadas incluye los jefes finales ( Balrog, Vega, Sagat, Bison) aumentando el plantel de luchadores a doce con nuevas rutinas de la IA enemiga, posibilidad de seleccionar el mismo personaje y su sprite cambia de color y varios arreglos de bugs y algún cambio en los escenarios.

Primera revisión de las muchas que tendría el clásico de arcades, que salió allá por el ´93 para la consola de Sega y que, indudablemente fue un superventas debido a su calidad y novedades que incorporaba respecto a su juego en la competencia.
