This simple guide will show you how to use Family Control to add an extra layer of security to your account in case someone gains access to your account.

Unfortunately, your account can be hijacked/hacked if you send a cookie containing your credentials and mobile authentication code. By following this guide, even if your login details are compromised, your account will remain the same, giving you more time to change your login details.

While this guide may be viewed as a workaround for compromised credentials, please do not treat it as such. If your credentials have been compromised, change your credentials as soon as possible. Check your URL and secure your account before signing up.

Firstly, head over to your settings and enable family view.

Disable all permissions in Family View, set Library Content to specific games, and don't select any of those games when prompted.

Finally, you will need to set 4 PIN codes for this family view and complete email verification.
‎‎

Once you've set up Family View, you'll see a new grey button in the top right. Grey means not in family view, green means in family view. To make sure Family View is set up correctly, click Family View to turn Family View on.


Below is what my account looks like in Family View. I can't play games or use Steam's social sites or marketplace.



When you log into your Steam account, you'll see Family View. Therefore, if your account is compromised, gaining full access to your account will require breaking through an additional layer of security.
