Description

The Invincible was originally a novel by acclaimed Scifi author Stanislaw Lem, but was recently made into a game by Starward Industries, claiming to have adapted the original book into the 2023 title released on PC, Xbox and Playstation.

The problem is, they didn't actually make a game adaptation of the novel. They took the bones of the novel, removed all of Stanislaw Lem's characters, charm and flair, inserted their own characters and then made one of the dullest walking simulators I've ever played.

It is a pain in the ass reviewing this as well because the game itself is technically sound and the dev team obviously has a lot of talent. The environments and sound design are impressive especially considering that Starward Industries themselves says that they make games on a AA budget aiming to have AAA quality.

Their team has developers who have worked on Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3, Dead Island and Dying Light, but their talents were used on a very slow paced walking sim with a story that is a warped, bastardized version of the original novel by Stanislaw Lem.
