Yea, I have built in a hilly area before but, having buildings at strange angles and such got to me, so now seek out flat areas, though that can be a challenge as well. Though there is no copper in this area anymore, I still prefer it, since it is mostly flat and close to several towns I can trade with and at the doorstep of one that I can raid in the beginning and then trade with after I take out the leader.

I build mine in hilly Terran and it looks like a child drew it but its very effective.
