Winged Light & Buffs
Winged Light
aka Children of the Light, Stars or Wings.
By finding and collecting Winged Light you gain their wings and another level for your own wings. These are found throughout the realms in obvious and hidden areas. You can lose your winged light from various things, like crabs, rain, shards, polluted water, drowning, and most prominently krills / dark dragons. Winged light is your life force, losing it means you lose levels. If you lose a few they will respawn somewhere back in the realm so be sure to check your map.

Map indication of WL location
(this one is bugged and stays after collecting)

Wedges
These are the levels shown on your cape as you collect the winged light.
Maximum level is 231 or 12 wedges currently. Maximum anyone will probably get are 10 or 11 wedges as of making this.

Wing Buffs
Wing Buffs are additional light levels you get from ascending spirits and never have to recollect.

Flying

Flying
When flying you use up a wedge of your winged light temporarily. There are two modes to flying, open cape and closed cape. Open cape allows you to glide further in any direction while closed cape is better for floating up and down or slower movements. You can recharge your winged light from various light sources: candles, lanterns, light blooms, spirit guides, other players, even butterflies and other friendly creatures.
Realms & Map
Realms
In order the realms go: Isle of Dawn, Daylight Prairies, HIdden Forest, Valley of Triumph, Vault of Knowledge and finally Eden. Each realm within the game is different from the next, all containing different amounts of winged light, spirits and places to explore.

Each realm has its own constellation, holding a place for the regular spirits you unlock. This is where you can unlock the spirit's friendship trees, buying expressions, cosmetics and props. Upon completing a constellation you will unlock that realm's ultimate gift, which you can claim in orbit.

Within these realms you will find certain doors, dark blooms and special areas that require you to light up in order to move through them! Some of these might require another person to help as well! There are also doors you need to light up after unlocking certain spirits throughout the realms.

The Map
Here is the complete map of Sky!
(you’re going to see this expression a lot)

Map Shrine
Light up the candles around the map shrines and meditate to unlock a new part of the map within each location.
After unlocking you can visit it again to look over your map in that location.
Missing winged light and regular spirits will show up on the map as tiny yellow stars, as shown before, and little blue shadows, shown under spirits.
Candles & Hearts
Candles & Hearts
Here is the main currency of the game. You can collect light, or wax, to forge candles from the red candles you find and light around the realms. You can also collect light from other sources like the dark blooms shown before, during events, explained further down, and clams!

Overtime, while you are collecting candles the three little meters on your candle icon will disappear. Each one indicating how many candles you've collected so far! When the first one goes away you've collected five candles, second meter being 10 candles and the third one being 15. The most amount of candles most people collect in a day is around 16-20 doing a normal candle run, after 20 candles the icon will turn grey. You can still collect but it will take a lot more wax.
(I won't go over specifics of candle math because.. I hate math.. instead you can go here[sky-children-of-the-light.fandom.com] and read more info about it!)
(also a candle run is when you run through the realms collecting all the wax :))

Hearts are an expensive currency within Sky, you can exchange three candles for a heart from previous seasonal guides, receive one from a friend as a gift or accumulate one over from being lit by a friend.

Ascended Candles
This is the most valuable currency in the game. To obtain these you can either do an Eden run, more on that further down, or shard events, also further down. This type of candle is used to ascend spirits to unlock wing buffs and further your progress in the spirits. You can also use it to buy resize potions and exchange it for event tickets.

Cake/Treasure Candles
These large clusters of candles are known as cake and or treasure candles. You can find these throughout the realms and on a daily rotation in one specific realm marked with small red candles. To find all the permanent and daily rotations of these candles you can use this Sky wiki page! [sky-children-of-the-light.fandom.com]

Spirits & TS
Spirits
Spirits or ancestors can be found around the realms in a glowing blue form the first time you find them. By lighting up the spirits you either have to follow and run through their memories or guide their spirit to the memories. Through spirits you can purchase cosmetics, expression upgrades, props and wing buffs from their friendship trees! Regular spirits are glowing blue, past season spirits are purple, current season, traveling spirits and daily quest spirits glow orange but will instead glow white or yellow if you’ve already collected the memory. You must complete Eden once to unlock past seasonal spirits.
(example of a spirits friendship tree to the left)

Traveling Spirits
These spirits return from previous seasons for four days! They are hinted at and announced before their arrival so you have some time to prepare and see if you want their items. They will show up at the aviary and base home but before you can purchase anything from them you must find the spirit and live through their memory if you hadn’t already as well as completing the Valley of Triumph (finding all the regular spirits) and completing the 4th revival quest, which is linked in the intro tab!
(I recommend saving both regular and ascended candles for these!)
Dailies & Reset
Dailies & Reset
Every day at a set time, (shown below), the game time resets. Everyday you will be given four mini quests to earn four candles, one for each quest. They can vary from re-living a spirit to sitting by a tree sapling for a minute.

END GAME SPOILERS IN NEXT SECTION - I suggest finishing a full run of the game at least once or skipping to the next topic!
Eden, Orbit & Elders
Eye of Eden
This is the final realm and the scariest, especially for new players… or to anyone if it’s bugged. Never again TGC.. please.. Anyways! Eden is where you go to reset your winged light after ascending spirits to collect the wing buffs. Upon entering this dangerous realm you will be met with flying rocks, dark dragons, polluted water and red shard rain.. lots of it.. increasingly so.

In the final area of the realm, one you cannot leave after entering, you have to give out your winged light to statues throughout the area and avoid the rock rain as it will knock you over and make you lose light. As you progress the rain will increase and get to a point of never letting up. The goal is to recover as many statues as possible before you inevitably succumb to the darkness.

Once you either reach the end or give up as much winged light as you can you will be covered in darkness and sent into orbit. This is the final stage of the game where you will see all the spirits you’ve unlocked, friends, and other children of the light. At the end of this you will be able to collect your wing buffs and gain new wedges before being sent back into the world to recollect all the winged light again. This is also where you will receive your ascended candles for however many statues you saved, you get 1/4th of a candle for one statue. Just over 15 being the max.

Eden resets every Sunday, this means every week you can do run through and collect ascended candles! It's easier to do with friends but it isn't hard without.

Elders
These spirits are at the end of each realm, you will meet them after meditating at each realm's respective temple.

Within orbit, after completing a realm’s constellation, you can unlock the ultimate gift. Each realm's elder has a unique hairstyle to offer, three also having masks, you can buy with ascended candles as the ultimate gift. Elder prices can be found here[sky-children-of-the-light.fandom.com] in case you want to know before going all the way through!

These masks can protect you from hits from crabs, krill and rocks or until it's shattered, then needing a recharge. To recharge you must visit the respective temple and relive the memory of the elder.
Shard Events
Shard Events
There are two types of shard events, red and black. Red shards offer around 2-3 ascended candles while black offer the same amount as 4 cake candles.

You will have to burn almost all the darkness to restore the shard, sometimes avoiding buffed crabs, in order to claim the wax. For red shards you will meditate and collect fragments of light before being able to claim the ascended candles.

With red shard events you can view a memory, these are random for everyone and each one has a single winged light for you to collect. There are six memories in total so it usually takes a while to get all of them.

I use this website[sky-shards.pages.dev] to track these events as it shows when it happens in your timezone and where in the realms it will happen.

Daily Events
Daily Events
Within Sky there are a few events that offer wax hourly.

At reset the Geyser event happens, this takes place at the polluted geyser in Sanctuary Islands in Daylight Prairie. It has a five minute grace period before starting after reset.
Spiky dark bloom balls will shoot out of the geyser every minute that you will need to burn, this goes on for ten minutes from the first eruption.
You can visit the geyser at least three times for maximum wax.

The next event is Granny! She resides in the Elevated Clearing in Hidden Forest and the event will start thirty minutes after reset, have a five minute grace period as well and going on for another ten minutes.
You can visit Granny at least twice for maximum wax.

Both the above events happen every other hour!

Another event is the turtle. This happens five minutes after Granny back in Sanctuary Islands at the back middle island of the area. The map will shake and the sun will set, a giant clam shell will appear at the island after the dark blooms are burnt off the turtle swimming around the island. There are smaller clams in the water to collect as well!
The event can only be done once.

Other more minor events happen as well but take more time to collect. I won’t be going over all of them here but instead you can use this link[sky-children-of-the-light.fandom.com] for more info!
Days of Events & In app Purchases
Days of Events
These events are holiday events, or special events, celebrating different holidays/seasons! I won’t go over every event as that would be a lot, instead i’ll go over the basics for most of the events!

Most of these events have a new kind of currency to collect, aka tickets! These usually match the theme of the event, being coins, bows, seedlings.. so on. They have different locations each day and unlike seasonal currency they do not convert to normal candles after the event ends. You can purchase these new tickets in the shop as well for normal and ascended candles.

Other events have quests to do or just simply happen like Days of Giving! With each event there are new and returning cosmetics, props and spells for you to get. They can cost normal candles or the event tickets. There are usually five tickets a day to collect, four being around the map and one from the guide!

Speaking of guide, each event has a guide(s) you collect some of the items from. Some items during events are in the menu shop as well which are bought with real money.

In app purchases
Better known as IAPs, these are items you can buy with real money in either the shop found in the menu or in the shop found in the aviary.

You can buy normal candles year round. Events bring new and returning items to purchase while seasons bring new limited time items that won’t return.
Seasons
Seasons
Similar to battle passes many games have, each season stays for a while and brings new items, quests and spirits to discover. You can either go the free to play route and get a few of the new items or purchase a pass to be able to unlock everything.

While a season is active dailies will give the seasonal candle currency, giving you four. In the realm where the dailies take place you’ll find small clusters of seasonal candles to light up as well, giving you one candle total. If you have the pass you’ll also get a free candle to collect at the daily totem! Free to play = 5 total / Pass = 6 total

Each quest unlocked over time, meaning there is time between each quest to just do dailies and collect candles. At the end of each friendship tree with a seasonal spirit there is a seasonal heart, which unlocks the ultimate items. These ultimate items are never going to return.

Past Seasons
For most of the past seasons, you can still do the quests, collect hearts and a few items from the guides. You’ll find these guides around the realms, they are pretty obvious and have a little tab above their heads you can click on to start the quests.

The only thing that returns from past seasons are the spirits, like I explained earlier in the TS section! The only items that can never return are collab items and ultimate's as they are exclusive to that season. Collab items may return but it's very rare.
Expressions & Cosemetics
Expressions
Every spirit you relive unlocks new expressions to use, a new stance or a new call. These expressions allow you to communicate without talking to others if you so please and well.. express yourself! Through the spirit's friendship trees you can unlock upgraded expressions that add effects or are more exaggerated versions of the expression.

When lighting another player it’s common courtesy to use the bowing expression after as a thank you! Many people also do this after helping with spirits, dark bloom trees and geyser. This is not necessary but you may encounter it often.

Cosmetics & Props
From horns to sparkling capes you can, over time, customize your sky kid to fit how you’re feeling! Customizations include: outfits, shoes, masks, face accessories, necklaces, hair, hats, capes and props! You can get cosmetics from spirits, TS, elders, events, and IAPs.

There are also instruments in the game you can buy and play! I categorized these under props as they can be found within the same section. Certain regular spirits have instruments, TS can bring some or you can buy one from the music hall! You can find this area through the aviary if you’ve done the 7th quest from revival but, you can go to this area in the Village of Dreams through Valley of Triumph.
Spells, Sizes & Chibi Fall
Spells are temporary items found in your expression menu. These are given mostly for free during Days of events, through spirits or you buy some at the shops in the homes. Spells can be cosmetics, props, can change your trail color, and your size!

Speaking of sizes.. you can change your height! With the resize potion, found at the shops, you can permanent change your sky kids height. It was is completely random, there is no set way to get the height you want with tricks or anything. There are a few spells to make you bigger and shorter as well. Another way to permanently alter you height is with the chibi mask, making you the shortest possible without spells! This can be bought from the Hide n' Seek spirit from Hidden forest for 20 hearts.

(height chart below)

Here is a guide to chibi falling with areas and locations for PC players! Timestamps included! One thing I forgot to add was, if you're holding someones hand they will fall with you and vise versa!
Friends, Creatures & Terms
In Sky you will come across many gray kids, which are other players! You can take out your candle and light up their candle to be able to see each other. There are two ways to become friends; when you tap on a player a new menu will pop up and you can offer a candle to become friends, or you can create a code to share if you don't want to use a candle. That can be done in the main menu under the Friends tab. (friendship tree below)

Creatures

Butterflys
When holding down Q they will recharge your light and lift you up!
Birds
Flying with birds an recharge light!
Manatees
I don't know if these things do anything but lay around..
Mantas
They can carry you around on their backs!
Jellyfish
You can stay floating atop of them and recharge your light!
Turtle
I've explained the turtles purpose early.
Crabs
These things will charge up and bonk into you, knocking you over.
Krill
They can been seen flying around Golden Wasteland mostly, if you fly into their vision you have a few seconds to hide before they dive into you and knock you over making you lose your winged light. Be sure to quickly gather it back.

Terms

Moth = newbie
Skid/Gray kid = unlit players
Butterfly/Sparrow = between a new and vet player level
Ikeman/Ikejou = tall masculine/feminine sky kid
CR = candle run / AC = ascended candled
WL = winged light
(I think that's most of the main ones)

Is there a way to look at all elder constellations after leaving their respective realm? I have candles saved up for one elder in the forest and I am trying to see if i have to go back through or if i can do it from the realm selection?
