@SmokinOakum I should be more clear with my communication. I don't mean that if someone doesn't describe their suggestion, I won't consider it at all. As you say, making such guids can take time, and it's hard to reliably evaluate games only by myself, especially ones I haven't played. Anyone who describes at least a little bit of their recommendation helps me see what aspect of a particular game is similar to Animal Well for them.
- You need to think about more than run-and-jump platforming!
- You need to experiment with abilities or items as they are introduced
- You both need to remember abilities and items you've already encountered, AND think about them in new & creative ways, as the game gets more complex
- When first seeing a screen or level, you might think "OK that looks impossible"
- Knowledge and abilities are gained later on in (some of) these games, that might make it possible to access previously blocked areas, or to uncover less obvious secrets, in places you saw earlier
- About Love, Hate, And The Other Ones
- its sequel, About Love, Hate, And The Other Ones 2
(Puzzle platformers where you influence things in the environment, e.g. by attracting or repelling them, like Animal Well's chinchillas)
- Blocks That Matter
- its sequel, Tetrobot and Co.
(Puzzle platformers where you break/collect parts of the world, and arrange/replace them elsewhere. Creative & unique approach to level traversal)
- Webbed
(An underground & overground world populated by other bugs, gaining & using abilities along with your web, to get around and interact with the world. Plus, it has an arachnophobia mode that lets you play as a lil' blob!)
