Keep in mind that you may also gain random items in each operation, these are only the guaranteed items you'll receive.
Weapon Ascension
Given the Synthesis system added in version 2.1 and the material requirements for weapon ascension, the best difficulty to make material Operations is Nightmare, in which, you will have a surplus of 30 Synthetic Particles for Blue and Purple weapons, and 25 Synthetic Particles for Orange weapons.

The fourth material is called Carbon Atomic Plate and cannot be obtained through Synthesis or Operations. Purchase it through the event exchange tab for the Underground Purge mode whenever possible.

Some experience requirements for the weapons cannot be filled perfectly and you will need to over spend, there is no way around this but the excess cost is minor.

Neuronics
The 1st, 4th and 7th nodes increase Aligment Index by 5.
The 2nd and 5th nodes increase Aligment Index by 10.
The 8th node increases Aligment Index by 15.
The 3rd and 6th nodes increase the level of the skill, boosting a variety of effects.
The 9th node grants a whole new ability.
The order and type of the skills you upgrade via Neuronics does not change the costs.

Quantum Cells can be obtained through the exchange tab for the Neural Simulation mode. Purchase them whenever possible.

Orange Operatives require a total of 300 Fiber Axons and 10 Quantum Cells to fully upgrade.

Blue Logistics are not worth using despite them all being lovely. Thus they are not included.
Echo Comparison
The gold box reward can only be obtained from the Special Echo and will always result in a random reward from the Duty's Command and Hearth of Midgard permanent Echoes for operatives and weapons respectively.

These calculations assume that you will always spend the maximum amount needed, and does not take the increased odds of each echo in consideration.

The Echo count for all rewards is always carried over from one event to the next.

@alveolate I can confirm that these numbers are correct PER 600 STAMINA. There is a reddit thread detailing the best of each operation todo. There does appear to also be an increase in the number of random rewards that drop at higher difficulties but I do not have enough data to statistically support that.

is there something off with the numbers for materials? why ever do nightmare/abyss if fear has better numbers for purple drops?
