dunno i play all games on highest diff and often you just run around hordes of very thicc zombies with 0 bullets. idk why OG fans love to cry about "it was harder back then" no it wasnt tho. the only hard part were these stupid cam angles since they didn't know how to make better, but in RE4 they figured it out.:chris:

This has the energy of those Andrew Dobson web-comics defending the Nintendo Wii, showing the Nintendo Wii lover being a Joyus intellectual while anyone else is stupid/miserable.

As a newer player in the Resident Evil Series, I will just add that I was surprised at how easy this game is compared to RE2 and RE4 Remake. I thought I would be worse coming in, but no, it was actually not that difficult to complete the game.

Yeah it was pretty intense until you put in the work and unlocked the good stuff. Then the enemies had to survive YOU, not the other way around. When the game gives you infinite magnum you don't worry about rationing. You worry about not have enough targets to shoot.

Mr. X was in OG RE2 in the B side. All they did was improve on him.

the difference is the mindset. in 1998 it surely was pretty tense. nowadays i'm fine with leon roundhousekicking everybody and getting ammo from it. what i will never be okay tho is the crime of implementing mister X which makes a classic explore horror adventure into dead by daylight

You can kill most the enemies in these games and still be comfortably stocked. I recently played RE 97 for the first time and was able to kill every zombie in the mansion with just the handgun, with bullets left over.

I think in a way, the games have always been closer to action horror than people would care to admit.

I wonder how much more important ammo conservation would be in RE4 if you took out the melee system (and the RPGs). Probably on par if not tighter than the OGs.

It also really only applies to First Time Playthroughs... :steamfacepalm:

Are you seriously using RE 3 last escape as an example?
It's only accurate if you shoot zombies 30 times and try to take on nemesis on every encounter.
Unlike many games, Re3 gives you the choice weather you want to fight the ten foot monster or not, meaning if you settle for latter, you have a LOT of ammo. Re2 and re1 aren't any better. Code veronica MIGHT be true but only because of shitty controls of Claire and Chris, their controls are basically a cow who is trying to move a wheel barrow.
Re7 is not any better either, because they are STILL using the same bad formula 1996-2004 resident evil games used. In the beginning it's hard, but as the game goes on it becomes easy and eventually becomes a shooting gallery.
