HAL 9000 Base Stations

Missing a bit of an ominous presence in your Vive room? Let HAL 9000 watch you while you play.

Here is how to install it:

1. Switch your SteamVR to a beta version (necessary as of May 14, hopefully soon to be a part of the normal branch)
To do so, in your desktop steam client go to library, right-click on SteamVR and select Properties. In the new window that pops up go to the Betas tab. In the drop-down menu under "Select the beta you would like to opt into:" select beta - SteamVR Beta Update.
Close the window by clicking CLOSE and allow for SteamVR to update.
In your list it should now be listed as SteamVR [beta] instead just SteamVR

2. Subscribe to this content
Simple enough. On the HAL 9000 Base Stations Workshop Page click the big Subscribe button.

3. Launch SteamVR, put your HTC Vive on, grab a controller
Beta is beta so you may not succeed at the first try. If it fails to initialize, try again. You may need a reboot.

4. Activate the new skin
When in VR, tap the options button on your controller. It is the button underneath the touchpad. A steam menu will pop up.
In the bottom-right corner select the Settings icon (represented by a gear).
In a new window that pops up, go to the Customize tab.
In here you will see separate menu items for customizing various aspects of your VR interface - Background, Play Area, etc.
Select Base Station and pick the apropriate skin.

5. Turn around and look in the direction where your Base Station is
It should now show as a HAL 9000.
