Intro: About the PSO-1 Scope
Introduced around 1964, the PSO-1 is a telescopic sight manufactured specifically for use on the SVD sniper/designated marksman rifle, which was introduced a year prior. At the time, it was one of the most advanced optics ever put in to mass production, and is still used extensively to this day.

The PSO-1M2 and PSO-1M2-1 has a unique reticle with some useful features that come in to play out in the field.
PSO-1M2 Reticle Features

1. Windage markings and crosshair - The center chevron acts as the crosshair, and the vertical dashes can be used to compensate for windage. One dash is equal to about 10cm for every 100m of distance.

2. Elevation chevrons - Underneath the main chevron (crosshair) there are three more markings. These can be used for incredibly long range shots. A standard PSO-1 can only zero up to 1000m, so these markings can be used for 1100, 1200, and 1300m respectfully.

3. Stadiametric rangefinder - A very useful tool in combat, this is used to estimate distances to targets so you can adjust the scopes zero accordingly. This scale is based on an average person standing upright at a height of 1.7m, or about 5' 6.9". It is very easy to use with a little practice. To use this, place the targets feet on the bottom line, and move the top line until it is sitting on his head. (some examples below)

Using the rangefinder on a target approx. 500m away.

Using the rangefinder on a target approx. 1000m away.

This is not a precise measurement, but it can give you a rough estimate of how far away your target is, which is especially useful in situations where you do not have a rangefinder or a spotter.
PSO-1M2-1 Reticle Features
The PSO-1M2-1 works in exactly the same way as the PSO-1M2, however the rangefinder only goes up to 400m instead of 1000m, making it useful in closer range engagements. It is especially useful as a designated marksman rifle when you need to quickly acquire targets and estimate short distances. It is best used on Russian weapons like the AS-VAL and VSS Vintorez due to their low effective ranges (thank you for catching that haxfar)

1: Crosshair and windage markings. These are used in exactly the same way as the PSO-1M2.

2. Stadiametric Rangefinder. The PSO-1M2-1 has a rangefinder that works in exactly the same way as the PSO-1M2, but it only goes up to 400m instead of 1000m.

Close Quarters Combat Situations
Due to the way the scope is mounted, it is possible to use the ironsights for very close range engagements. This should be a last resort, as the scope and mounting system greatly obscure your view.

Conclusion
This guide was made using the SVD and PSO optics from the RHS:AFRF mod, but should exactly the same with any other mod.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my guide! I plan on making more guides in the future, mostly related to Russian weapons/technology, but we will see what the future holds.

FYI the Russian PSO-1M2-1 is used for the ASVAL/VSS and isn't used on the SVD or M76 at all, it's zeroed for a different caliber in Arma by RHS.

The PSO-1M2-1 is primarily meant for the VSS and AS VAL, buth firing the subsonic SP-5 and SP-6, which have an effective range short of 400m.
