How am i supposed to understand from that comment, you wanted to compare the Dutch VS the portuguese empires?.
That said, my comment on trade still stands. portugal never came close to what the Dutch V.O.C. had, and even today portgal is at the short end of the stick when it is compaired to The Netherlands.
Netherlands GDP in 2022 is ranked #17 in the world
Portugal GDP in 2022 is ranked #48 in the world

We are done here.
[1] expansion of lands?.
Largest colonial empire was the British, largest by landmass the Russian Empire.
[2] trade power?.
British east india company(Est. 1600), and the Dutch V.O.C. (Est. 1602), were the first two multi-national trade companies in the world, whose trade power was unmatched by anyone at that time. Portugal was part of the Spanish crown at that time.
[3] expand culture?..
The definition of what a culture is, is very broad but one defined indicator is language, and the fact that you and i are communicating in English. Should tell you enough.
2nd language would be Spanish and not portuguese.
Nope not really, not even close!.
