"11 June 1666,

Vice-Admiral William Berkeley was all to eager to prove himself after his dishonourable conduct at the battle of Lowsoft. So eager was he that he outran his squadron and sailed straight into the midst of a Dutch fleet, that they in turn would subsequently surround him.

A fierce battle started, but his ship HMS Swftsure had no place to run too. The HMS Seven Oaks and HMS Loyal George tried to aid the Swiftsure but failed so badly in their attempt that they them selves would be boarded and captured.
Frustrated by his 'situation' the Vice-Admiral taunted the Dutch by shouting "You dogs, you rogues, have you the heart, so press on board!."

Challenge accepted!. The Dutch boarded his ship, and Vice-Admiral Berkeley was hit by a musket-ball in the throat.
He died a fools death."

Of course once the Dutchmen set foot on the Swiftsure, her deck was completely open from front to back, enough of a view for the swivel cannons to unleash grapeshot the entire length of the ship. That would not stop the best boarders in naval history, the Dutch Sailor.
