Tie attack animations to the actual number of attacks?
What I mean is for example the guardsmen shoot 5 times but they only actually attack once or twice if at half range. The animation should only shoot once or twice instead of 5 times.
Could someone mod this or is it hardcoded?

Easily doable but for each units of the game ? No thanks xD

If you want to try, here is the way.

All you have to do, it's to add/modify this line in the weapon pannel of the unit file (for each weapon). Lesser the value, more shoot there will. =>

fireInterval="0.3"

For example :

<beamWeapon mesh="Weapons/Eldar/PrismeRifle+"
material="Units/Eldar/PrismeRifle+"
muzzleBone="Muzzle"
bone="Hand_R"
fireInterval="0.3"/>

Instead of editing vanilla files (unless you don't wan to publish a mod for the community), create some extension files (.xml.ext) with only the weapons in it.
