What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

Why We Choose Early Access

As a small indie team, early access on Steam is particularly important for us. It provides us with an opportunity to get our game in front of a wider audience, and to start building a community around our game.

Early access allows us to get feedback from players who are passionate about the game, and who can provide valuable insights that can help us make the game better. As a small team, we don't have the resources of a larger studio, so we really value the input of our players. Early access gives us the chance to connect with our players directly, and to get a sense of what they like and dislike about the game.

We also appreciate the opportunity to receive bug reports and other technical feedback during early access. It can be difficult for us to identify all the issues in the game on our own, so having a group of dedicated players providing feedback can be extremely helpful. This allows us to fix issues more quickly, and to improve the game overall.

Overall, early access on Steam is a crucial tool for small indie teams like ours. It allows us to connect with our players, get feedback, fix issues and gives our players the opportunity to shape the development of Western Rye. We appreciate the support of our early access players, and we're committed to making their experience as rewarding as possible.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

Early Access Duration

We can't accurately say how long Western Rye will be in Early Access, because we are currently working on adding new enemies variations, more locations, caves as well as more equipment. But this should be in Early Access for atleast 2 more years.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

How Western Rye Will Change After Early Access

By the time Western Rye is out of Early Access, players can expect to see, alot more locations and dungeons/caves, more unique bosses and enemy variations, more crafting stations and recipes, more clothing and character apparels, we will also add more western weapons(Revolvers, shotguns and repeaters) to complement the already existing ones, more horses variations and behaviors, and also adding personalities to NPCs for a more memorable.
We shall also increase the number Barns and buildings.
So players can be rest assured that the full version will certainly be an overall richer and fuller game.
Also as times goes on we will actively add these features to Western Rye and we shall publish a Roadmap shortly so players can track our progress.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

Current State of the Game

Well Western Rye we would say it about 70% completed, since most of the core mechanics of the game are already implemented, like single player and multiplayer, player customization (changing of clothing and apparels), horse riding, hot of classic western revolvers, shotguns and repeaters are also present, an expansive desert with both deserted apocalypse cities and also habitable cities with NPCs are all fully implemented, mining caves and abandoned locations scattered throughout the map, variations of enemies each found in their unique habitat, a few bosses.
And also all the features we listed in the 'About the Game' section are all full implemented.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

Early Access and Game Price

We plan to keep the base price of the game the same even after early access but for those who bought the game during early access they will however get a host of free DLCs and expansion packs for free.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

Community Involvement In Early Access

Community involvement is infact one of the main reasons why we opt for Early Access, we want our players to get onboard from the start as their opinions and experiences are very critical to getting this game to it's full vision and potentials, so we urge all our players and fans to get intouch with us through our community on Steam, our discord server and other social handles as well as our emails.”
