Get notified when a friend’s location changes in Find My on iPhone
Use the Find My app to get a notification when your friend’s location changes. You can get notified when a friend arrives at a location, leaves a location, or is not at a location.
Note: You can only create recurring notifications for friends who have two-factor authentication turned on. See the Apple Support article Two-factor authentication for Apple ID.
You can also let friends know when your location changes. See Notify a friend when your location changes in Find My on iPhone.
Get notified when your friend arrives at or leaves a location
Tap People, then tap the name of the person you want to be notified about.
Under Notifications, tap Add, then tap Notify Me.
Choose whether you want to be notified when a friend arrives at or leaves a location.
Choose a location, or tap New Location to create a new location and set a location radius.
With a larger radius, you’re notified when your friend is close to the location instead of right at the location.
Choose whether you want to be notified only once or every time.
Tap Add, then tap OK.
Your friend gets an alert after you set the notification. If you set a recurring notification, your friend must approve it before it’s set.
Get notified when your friend is not at a location
You can receive a notification if your friend or family member is not at a specific location during a set schedule. For example, you can be notified if your child isn’t at school during school hours.
Tap People, then tap the name of the person you want to be notified about.
Under Notifications, tap Add, then tap Notify Me.
Under When, tap [your friend’s name] Is Not At.
Choose a location, or tap New Location to create a new location and set a location radius.
With a larger radius, you’re notified when your friend is close to the location instead of right at the location.
Select when you want to be notified.
Time: Select a start and end time.
Days: Select the days of the week.
Tap Add, then tap OK.
Your friend must approve the notification before it’s set.
Change or turn off a notification you set
Tap People, then tap the name of the person whose notification you want to change or turn off.
This could be a notification you receive about a friend, or a notification your friend receives about you.
Under Notifications, tap the notification.
Do either of the following:
Change a notification: Change any details, then tap Done.
Turn off a notification: Tap Delete Notification, then tap Delete Notification again.
Choose who you receive location updates from
Anyone with an Apple ID can send you notifications when they arrive at or leave a location. You can choose whether you want to receive these notifications from everyone or only from people you share your location with.
Tap Me, then tap Receive Location Updates.
Select People You Share With or Everyone.
You can create up to 25 Notify Me notifications.
