Damn these broken wings, a god who fell I have no name, you knew me well The hit made no sound My color was drained out I was stone When you let me go I was stone When you let me go But I was yours I love myself inside your bed I cannot breathe Hand on my chest I’m trying black out Are you reaching for me now? I was stone When you let me go I was stone When you let me go But I was yours I was yours I was stone

When your heart rips out your chest When your voice is trembling Lift your head to the blood red moon Hold your pain as you breathe Time is short, like the old man said Time is hungry like a wolf It’s natural, like the blood red moon Bring your body close to me Walk on with your burden Walk on with your burden I will walk with you Walk on with your burden I will walk with you Walk on with your burden I will walk with you Dive into me, like some Great Lake Move in me, like a ritual Bathe in the light of the blood red moon Raise a song in harmony I will walk with you Walk on in the middle of a dark day fighting through hell Walk on at the edge of the world where you find yourself Walk on with your burden, walk on with your burden Walk on with your burden And I will walk with you I will walk with you Walk with you, oh I will walk with you Walk on with your burden Walk on with your burden When your heart stills in your chest When your tongue is poetry Speak in the night to the blood red moon Hold that moment close to you

In the wake of an accidental love In the violence I will still my lungs And live in the moments when I can’t breathe You silent my storm and tame my seas Sweet obsession left me with no choice You’re an anthem I will lose my voice I tethered myself to a dance with you And I felt no fear when I came to Rest your weary head, she’s a longtime coming Steady now, steady my heart when the lights go down Steady my heart when the lights go down With a shot I fall and I spill my love I was naked arms around the sun Should’ve held out for a stronger frame Covered in red but I have no shame, no shame, no shame Rest your weary head, she’s a longtime coming Steady now, steady my heart when the lights go down Steady my heart when the lights go down You couldn’t know what you meant for me Buried in love I will find some sleep Rest your weary head, she’s a longtime coming Steady now, steady my heart when the lights go down Rest your weary head, she’s a longtime coming Desolate, bury my heart when the lights go down Bury my heart when the lights go down

Like the salt inside the 7 seas I have been cursed to be Drifting through this barren land Stuck out here where none can stand I have tended to my bitter root But vengeance bore me sweeter fruit Cold the blood that runs in me My righteous life is buried deep And lo, watch as I will rise Lo watch me come alive I will live forever I will live forever From the arches of the Golden Gate To the tombs across this wretched state Bodies buried without guilt Don’t question what your hands have built So judge ye not the heart of man Judge me not lest ye be damned Entitled to my handsome sum I’ll wait on death like everyone And lo, watch as I will rise Lo watch me come alive I will live forever I will live forever And see the earth will open wide There within the raging fire I will burn forever I will live forever And lo, watch as I will rise Lo watch me come alive I will live forever I will live forever And see the earth will open wide There within the raging fire I will burn forever I will live forever You will know me tho I have no name Far beyond the end of days When time has stopped and I have won Forget me not, oblivion

about

During this time between touring, I’ve missed playing live music with friends. I’ve been working on new music and even released a few songs that include strings. They have always been one of my favorite sounds to play with live, so I decided it would be fun to play some newly recorded songs with a string section.

There is an old airfield relic in the middle of Seattle where I live called Hangar 30. It’s an airport hangar from the 1940s and it’s been left completely unchanged, except it’s now surrounded by a beautiful park. It’s a bit dystopian.

There are 2 songs that I haven’t yet recorded that are part of this short, live set. In fact, this is the first time I’m releasing a new song live before creating a version in the studio. I have no idea what they’ll sound like once I get them in the studio, and maybe this process will help inform that sound; maybe not.

'I Was Stone' is a song that has a ton of space, and I wanted that space to allow myself to think as I said the words. It’s a simple melody and the chording is lamenting and patient for most of the song, but as it climbs it gains more hope. I love the idea of having hope while looking backwards in your life and soaking in what was, instead of only looking forward.
The other unreleased song ‘Wake' is named after that beautifully chaotic water behind a boat. It’s complete randomness and the only predictable thing about it is that you caused it with your action. If you’ve ever fallen off a boat it feels violent and disorienting, but then there’s peace and reflection. That’s how it feels when a relationship dismantles.
