Grindrod Eswatini Reaches Out to Local Schools with Community and Environmental Initiatives By Phiwa Sikhondze Grindrod Eswatini has extended its Corporate Social Investment (CSI) efforts to eight schools in the Nhlambeni and Gundvwini communities, promoting environmental awareness, road safety, and career guidance among students. According to Grindrod’s Operations Manager Mkhululi Dlamini, the company engaged with students from Damaseko Primary School, Nhlambeni Community High School, Nhlambeni Nazarene, Masundvwini Primary, Masundvwini High, Gundvwini Primary, Jabez High School, and Sidvokodvo Railway Primary. “We believe that our responsibility as a business extends beyond operations; it includes supporting our neighboring communities and caring for the environment,” Dlamini said. As part of its environmental awareness campaign, Grindrod installed 16 rubbish bins across the schools to encourage proper waste disposal. This initiative aims to maintain a clean and safe learning environment, emphasizing the company’s commitment to sustainable practices within the communities it operates. In addition to environmental safety, the company highlighted crucial safety topics, such as the importance of caution around railway tracks and heavy truck routes commonly used in the Sidvokodvo area. The program also included discussions on career paths, encouraging students to explore opportunities and set aspirations for the future. Grindrod further supported students’ welfare by distributing essential supplies, including soaps, towels, toothbrushes, sanitary pads, and pencil cases with school supplies. The donations aim to meet the students' immediate needs, contributing to hygiene and academic support. The outreach program underscores Grindrod’s commitment to building long-term relationships within the communities in which they operate.
