At the first bar, I was done after drinking a lot of sake and various snacks. I was wondering where to go for the second bar, and I was feeling the late spring wind in Aizuwakamatsu as I browsed the drinking district. Guided by the Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) guide pamphlet I got at the hotel, I naturally headed towards this place, where I could use discount coupons. It seemed that the crowds had died down, probably because it was the time of day when I had already made one turn. I was immediately shown to a raised area in the back. I was told that I could enjoy a set of chilled sake and some snacks with a coupon, so I ordered it without hesitation. I ordered the store's exclusive brewery-fresh unpasteurized sake, octopus Tempura, bracken tempura, and white offal. The various snacks went well with the crisp chilled sake. My memory became quite hazy around the time I finished the chilled sake, but the waiter recommended a three-kind sake tasting, which I said was a good deal and I could drink a lot, so I ordered it. I also ordered ankimo ponzu and bamboo Tempura tempura. The sakes on offer are all famous Aizu sakes: Yaemon, Bandaisan, and Suehiro. By this point I was so drunk I couldn't really taste the finer details, but I can say for sure that it was delicious. The sake boosted the flavor of the ankimo and brought out the refreshing bitterness of the bamboo shoots. Before I knew it, it was done. All this came to just over 2,500 yen per person. As the name suggests, this is a place that makes drunk people, or "yosaku." They seem to have a wide selection of alcohol, and the food is also good. It's no wonder that they have been satisfying the palates of locals for so long in Aizuwakamatsu, an area with a very high Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) standard score. I'd like to drop in again.
