May 28, 2024 Charoen Pokphand Group joined the UNDP, Workplace Pride, and Sasin School of Management in an event to launch the Business Inclusion Toolkit at the Sasin School of Management. The Toolkit is a practical interactive guide for businesses to support their efforts in promoting inclusion in the workplace, localized and contextualized for use by Thai companies and organizations. Furthermore, the Toolkit was developed through consultation with both civil society organizations and the private sector, including C.P. Group, every step of the way to ensure meaningful involvement of stakeholders. While focused on implementing inclusion for the LBGTQI+ community and employees, the Toolkit is meant to be useful for addressing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) at large, for all vulnerable groups as well.   After opening remarks by Mr. Renaud Meyer, the UNDP Resident Representative in Thailand, H.E. Ping Kitnikone, the Ambassador of Canada to Thailand, and Minister Jiraporn Sindhuprai, the Minister Attached to the PM’s Office, Mr. Viranon Futrakul, Vice President of the Global Partnership for Sustainability and Communications of Charoen Pokphand Group, joined a panel to discuss the importance of LGBTQI+ inclusion and the steps C.P. Group has taken to drive DE&I within its organization. Moderated by Mr. Paul Overdijk, the co-founder of Workplace Pride, the panel of business leaders and representatives of the LBGTQI+ community engaged in meaningful dialogues on the current progress and obstacles of inclusion in the private sector.   Mr. Viranon highlighted C.P. Group’s dedication to building a culture of inclusivity through its strong policies, including those focusing on human rights, DE&I guidelines, and the prevention of harassment and discrimination. Furthermore, the Group’s senior leadership has provided extensive support for initiatives such as Pride Month events and clear direction towards achieving gender equality in alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). C.P. Group's other efforts, such as the CPF LGBT Club providing safe spaces for expression, and inclusive product development like the telemedical service MorDee, demonstrate a holistic approach toward creating an environment that values and celebrates diversity. Furthermore, to provide inclusive products and services, MorDee introduced PrideDee, a feature addressing the critical issue of HIV transmission within the Thai LGBTQI+ community by providing consultation services and emergency access to HIV antiretroviral drugs within 72 hours. This initiative aims to prevent disease spread, reduce risks, and maintain privacy for the LGBTQI+ community and beyond. Mr. Viranon also expressed the Group’s commitment to adopt the Business Inclusion Toolkit to foster a more inclusive culture within its workplace, promote best practices, and drive change across the industry.   Download https://lnkd.in/gP2cs4yz

Charoen Pokphand Group is dedicated to nurturing the potential of youth through education and empowerment, aiming to develop future leaders for a sustainable world.   On August 12th, we come together to celebrate the remarkable achievements of today’s youth, who are boldly advancing in areas such as climate action, social justice, and human rights. This is also the day to acknowledge the significant challenges many young people face, from conflict to mental health struggles. Charoen Pokphand Group reaffirms our commitment to supporting and empowering the youth, recognizing that they hold the key to our collective future.   The Group has been dedicated to collaborating with government agencies, civil society organizations, and industry peers to create opportunities for young people across various domains. For instance, the CONNEXT ED Foundation focuses on enhancing primary education in state schools, the Panyapiwat Institute of Management offers practical work-based education, and the True Digital Academy provides essential IT education. The Group, therefore, understands that different groups require tailored support, and we strive to meet these needs. Furthermore, Charoen Pokphand Foods, a subsidiary of the Group, also ensures that children of migrant workers have access to quality education through the Fishermen Life Enhancement Center (FLEC).   At a fundamental level, the Group aims to empower the youth by equipping them with vital knowledge, skills, and a sustainable mindset. To do so, the Group’s CEO, Mr. Suphachai Chearavanont, has pioneered the SI (Sustainable Intelligence) Transformation Model. This innovative framework envisions the transformation of society into the 5.0 era through educational reform and human capital development, anchored on five pillars: transparency, market mechanisms, leadership & talent, child-centric empowerment, and technology. This vision has led to the SI Sphere project, where the Group, in cooperation with the UN Global Compact Network Thailand, promotes the adoption of technology and IT studies across educational institutions. Additionally, another initiative is the development of an interactive game, aimed to deliver knowledge and embed a sustainable mindset for the youth. This game, called “The Collectors,” was developed in collaboration with the UN Development Program to teach children about the importance of recycling. By engaging them in a fun and interactive way, the Group hopes to introduce complex issues in an enjoyable manner. #cpgroup #international #youthday

Mr. Suphachai Chearavanont, the CEO of Charoen Pokphand Group (C.P. Group), presented his vision on "Opportunities and Challenges for Multinational Enterprises in the Digital Economy Era" at the China Mobile Southeast Asia Regional Cooperation Conference: "Connecting Through Data, Innovating the Future." This summit was organized by China Mobile to promote digital economic cooperation in Southeast Asia in 2024. Mr. Suphachai stated that the world is entering the 5.0 economy era, driven by AI and digital connectivity, with an increasing focus on big data. This era presents business opportunities to use advanced AI technology to better understand customers and improve business efficiency to keep up with the competition. He highlighted that multinational companies are currently facing three significant challenges, known as the 3-Ds: deglobalization, digitalization, and decarbonization. Deglobalization: The changing global political landscape, with power becoming more multipolar, has led to different countries enacting import laws and regulations that businesses must adapt to. Digitalization: As the world transitions to the digital age, investing in AI and data has become crucial tools across various industries. Decarbonization: Reducing carbon emissions, with every organization needing to participate in preventing the climate crisis to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. To address these challenges, C.P. Group established targets, goals, commitments, and policies, while also supporting regional investment in AI technology and clean energy. Mr. Suphachai emphasized that building a digital economy in Southeast Asia requires companies to prioritize the development of "human capital." He proposed the SI Transformation model, which aims to create a society powered by “Sustainable Intelligence” through digital education. This model focuses on embedding technological skills, ethics, and sustainability into education programs. To achieve this, the role of teachers must shift from traditional instructors to facilitators. They should encourage students to become "experimenters" with a new mindset, learning through experiences. This approach inherently fosters an entrepreneurial spirit, enabling them to adapt and thrive in today's challenging world. #cpgroup

CP Group Collaborates to Combat Corruption, Boost Transparency, and Foster Sustainable Growth in Thai Businesses On July 26, 2024, the United Nations Global Compact Network Thailand (UNGCNT) co-organized a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on enhancing the private sector's role in addressing corruption. This event, held at the Mandarin Hotel in Bangkok, was in collaboration with the Office of Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) and Thai Institute of Directors (IOD). The Memorandum of Understanding aims to empower and involve the private sector in developing policies and measures to prevent and combat corruption, with the goal of improving Thailand's Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) score. The ceremony was attended by over 80 representatives from the government, private sector, and educational institutions. Dr. Netithorn Praditsarn, Secretary-General of UNGCNT, and Executive Assistant to Group CEO and Senior Vice President of the Office of Global Partnership, Sustainability and Communications at Charoen Pokphand Group Co., Ltd., delivered a special talk on improving approval processes to prevent corruption, sharing insights from UNGCNT’s report. Dr. Netithorn emphasized that combating corruption requires collective efforts from all sectors, particularly the private sector which must take a proactive role in addressing corruption and enhancing transparency to support the sustainable growth of Thai businesses. He proposed three key approaches to prevent and manage corruption risks in the approval process for business operations: 1. Digitalization of the Approval Process: implement a digitalized approval system with robust tracking and monitoring to streamline procedures. Set clear and measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the effectiveness of the digitalization. This initiative, strongly advocated by Mr. Suphachai Chearavanont, President of UNGCNT, aims to enhance efficiency and transparency. 2. Regulatory Review: Eliminate redundant or discretionary steps in regulations to minimize opportunities for abuse of power and corruption. 3. Reform approval processes: develop user-centric and risk-based licensing processes, considering factors such as industry types, environmental impacts, public health and safety, business financial stability, and compliance history. Dr. Netithorn concluded by stating, "the collective power and cooperation of all parties can close gaps, reduce opportunities for and risks of corruption, and create a fair competitive environment, thereby promoting sustainable and responsible business growth." #cpgroup #ungcnt

On World Youth Skills Day, C.P. Group reaffirms our commitment to providing essential technological skills and embedding a sustainable mindset for next generation leaders both within the Group and beyond   Charoen Pokphand Group believes in the potential of education as a critical foundation to prosperity and sustainable growth. As we are faced with innumerable crises across the globe - climate change, geopolitical conflict, rising debt and inflation, AI disruption - it is critical that we prepare the next generation such that they will be able to adapt and thrive despite these obstacles. Today, on World Youth Skills Day, we once again join the resounding call to provide education to the youth of the world, to provide everyone with the means through which they can succeed.   C.P. Group itself has committed to tackling educational inequality in our 2030 Sustainability Goals - setting a target of providing 50 million people with access to quality education, lifelong learning, or upskilling. To meet this goal, we are supporting a variety of initiatives to drive education across all areas. For instance, through the CONNEXT ED Foundation, the Group seeks to bring together private and public sectors to enhance education in Thai state schools through the use of data analytics, standardization and scoring, and technological and connectivity support. The CEO of the Group, Mr. Suphachai Chearavanont, is also driving the SI Sphere project. Under the concept of “Sustainable Intelligence,” the harnessing of cutting-edge technologies for a sustainable society, the SI Sphere seeks to provide university-level students with technological know-how to empower them in their future careers.   Panyapiwat Institute of Management, of PIM, is a subsidiary of CPALL that seeks to provide practical, “work-based” learning for students from all parts of society. As an institute of learning, PIM gives students opportunities to put their studies to practice through extensive internships in their chosen field, allowing them to accumulate the skills and experience employers are looking for. In 2023, with over 57% of students at PIM provided with financial support, we are ensuring that those who need education the most can access it. Furthermore, outreach programs to communities in the Southern provinces and Northern border regions provides our least developed regions with the opportunity they need to grow.   Through these initiatives and more (including our Future Leaders Program and the CP Leadership Institute) the Group is happy to say that we have provided more than 48 million people with access to learning and upskilling. On this important day, we celebrate the progress we have made, and pursue our goals with even greater determination. #cpgroup #sustainability #worldyouthskill

C.P. Group gave an opening remark for a seminar titled “Enhancing Corporate Sustainability Management Policies and Practice” as a platform for the exchange of information and experience on corporate sustainability management and disclosure. On 11 July 2024, the United Nations Global Compact Network Thailand (UNGCNT) joined hands with the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO) and the Thailand Carbon Neutral Network (TCNN) to organize a seminar titled “Enhancing Corporate Sustainability Management Policies and Practice” at the Pullman King Power Hotel, Bangkok. The seminar served as a platform for the exchange of information and experiences among members of TCNN on corporate sustainability management and disclosure, which are critical tools for benchmarking performances against indicators and goals and mitigating risks associated with climate change. More than 150 companies from various industries, including financial institutions and research organizations, attended the seminar. Dr. Netithorn Praditsarn, Executive Assistant to the Group CEO and Senior Vice President of Global Partnerships for Sustainability and Communications at C.P. Group, and Secretary-General of UNGCNT, spoke alongside Khun Dan Prathomvanich, CEO of NR Instant Produce PCL and Chair of the Sub-Committee on Implementation & Engagement of TCNN. Dr. Netithorn emphasized the importance of corporate sustainability management policies and practices, describing them as the backbone of sustainable and responsible business conduct for businesses of all sizes and sectors throughout the supply chain. Dr. Netithorn highlighted that disclosure and sustainability reporting are highly valued by Khun Suphachai Chearavanont, Chairperson of UNGCNT. These reports can be used to measure and evaluate a corporation's concrete performances and serve as tools for communicating with stakeholders about the company’s sustainability commitments. Additionally, disclosure provides opportunities for stakeholders to monitor and take action against any greenwashing, which in turn motivates a race to the top among businesses. In conclusion, Dr. Netithorn stressed that cooperation and collaboration among all stakeholders are essential for developing innovations or incorporating advanced technologies, such as AI, to analyze data and information for sustainability. This would increase the effectiveness and precision of trend analysis and optimize information and knowledge that can be scalable. Together, these efforts will help accelerate progress towards achieving sustainability goals at both the corporate and national levels. #cpgroup #gcnt #sustainability
