When we speak about creating equality, the most important thing we can offer is education. The word education here does not mean just providing knowledge - but rather encompasses a mindset informed by good cultural, moral, and ethical values. These are the elements of an education that can create true equality. I believe that education is the bedrock of all efforts and opportunities to develop our country and society. Our foundation recognizes the crises we are facing, but we also see the huge opportunities awaiting us. We have laid out a five-point strategic plan to transform Thailand’s educational system. CONNEXT ED, a Public-Private Partnership initiative, brings together the private sector, the public sector, and civil society to address the gaps in the educational system, enhancing the development of human capital on the national level. In our work, we pursue a dual-track approach; we assist the government in developing and driving key policies, while also leveraging and coordinating the private sector’s resources to support these endeavors. Each of the five points of the strategic plan requires support and resources to ensure the successful transformation in the educational system. We face a devastating crisis if we do not take action. On the other hand, if we are able to seize the opportunity to create a new generation of talented youth and build a more sustainable, prosperous, and happy society.

On October 17, the international community gathers to observe the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, first celebrated in 1987, Paris. Today, the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals Report for 2024 reveals that we are still far from achieving Goal 1: No Poverty by 2030. After the bruising impact the global COVID-19 pandemic had on global efforts to eradicate poverty, we are only just recovering; if nothing changes, there will still be 590 million people in extreme poverty by 2030. C.P. Group, as a part of the United Nations Global Compact and a founding member of the UN Global Compact Network Thailand, is committed to driving achievement of the UN SDGs - especially the eradication of poverty. The Group has worked with local and regional partners to drive initiatives across the world to address some of the most severe cases of poverty and food insecurity. The UN Report states that climate-change exacerbated extreme weather events continue to impact billions of people across the globe, worsening poverty. In Thailand, we are faced with devastating floods across 33 northern provinces that have caused over 30 billion baht in estimated damages. Houses, farms, and livelihoods have been destroyed, leading to displacement and poverty. C.P. Group is working to mitigate these disasters by working with local communities affected by floods, bringing in support in the form of food, water, manpower, and more. Furthermore, with our roles in the food, telecoms, construction, and many other sectors, we are able to lend our hand in many ways to support those affected. True Corporation has worked to stabilize connectivity in affected areas, and provided a temporary moratorium on payments to ensure those impacted are still able to communicate and access information. CP Foods, CPRAM, CPCRT, CP AXTRA and many more of our businesses are providing meals and clean water to the victims, creating a critical lifeline for those who have lost everything in the floods. Furthermore, staff and volunteers are in the field to assist in delivering these necessities and providing much needed assistance wherever it is required. The Group and all our businesses will continue to work with all our partners to mitigate the impact of this disaster, and pursue our goal of a better tomorrow, without poverty and hunger. #cpgroup

World Mental Health Day was first celebrated in 1992 by the World Federation of Mental Health, raising awareness about the importance of mental health and tackling the negative stigma around the discussion of this critical health issue. This has helped to pave the way towards a society that better understands and recognizes mental health as an essential part of health and welfare. During this important day of awareness and destigmatization, C.P. Group would like to reaffirm our commitment to supporting the mental health of our employees, and empower them to work in a way that fits with their mental health needs. This will allow our employees to achieve their greatest potential, creating a safe, welcoming, and productive workplace for all. At Charoen Pokphand Group, we understand that flexibility is an important part of work. With the many obligations of modern life, and the many lifestyles that people must fit around work, many employees need a new way of working. To empower our personnel to work the way they want, C.P. Group has allowed for flexible working hours, as well as work-from-home and work-from-anywhere options. We also enhance employee welfare through benefits that cover mental health. Furthermore, vacation days, maternity, and paternity leave helps to support the employee when they need to focus on themselves and their families. Even when working in the office, employees are provided with accessible workplaces and functional facilities such as breastfeeding rooms and childcare areas, leisure areas with massage chairs and coffee, and even a cafeteria with special discounts for employees. In creating a workplace where our staff can enjoy themselves and their work, we hope to enhance the mental wellbeing of our employees. For C.P. Group, people are at the center of our organization - and their physical and mental wellbeing are one of our top priorities. The Group also recognizes that feeling included is an important part of mental health. Our businesses are providing safe spaces for employees to express themselves and tell their stories; CP Foods’ LGBT Club and True Corporation’s Bring Your Best Club allows for people of diverse groups to come together and find their community. We want our employees to be proud and celebrate their uniqueness, because we know that each of them makes an important and unique contribution to the Group. #cpgroup

C.P. Group Participates in the 6th United Nations Responsible Business and Human Rights Forum (UNRBHR Forum), Asia-Pacific On September 24-25, 2024, Charoen Pokphand Group (C.P. Group) represented the Thai business sector at the 6th United Nations Responsible Business and Human Rights Forum in the Asia-Pacific region. This year’s forum was themed "The Remedy Blueprint: Bridging Gaps and Accelerating Access." The event gathered over 1,800 participants from 100 countries, providing a platform for exchanging ideas and experiences related to business and human rights. Key discussions focused on evaluating progress and identifying barriers to accessing remedies in the Asia-Pacific, while also exploring innovative solutions to enhance effective remedy access. Dr. Netithorn Praditsan, Secretary-General of the UN Global Compact Network Thailand (UNGCNT) and Senior Vice President at C.P. Group, participated as a panelist in two pivotal discussions: 1. Case Study on Transboundary Human Rights Impacts and Remedy in ASEAN examined the strides made by Thai seafood industry to improve migrant workers' access to remedies. Initiatives included the establishment of multiple complaint channels in languages accessible to workers, creating social dialogue spaces between management and migrant worker representatives such as a Worker Welfare Committee, collaborating with small and medium-sized suppliers to enhance access to effective remedy throughout the supply chain, and utilizing technologies such as Blockchain to protect labor rights. 2. Legal Remedies: An Evolving Landscape emphasized the critical importance of a strong "tone from the top" in promoting access to effective remedy. Dr. Netithorn highlighted that achieving these goals requires setting measurable targets, monitoring outcomes, and fostering leadership within the supply chain. By leveraging technology and innovation, businesses can further enhance access to remedies. Dr. Netithorn concluded by advocating for a “race to the top,” where all sectors collaborate to uplift one another, ensuring that no country or supplier is left behind. This collective effort aims to reduce human rights risks through sustainable sourcing, fostering an ethical competitive landscape that prioritizes respect for human rights. #cpgroup
