Precious Shipping (PSL) Becomes Asia’s First Shipping Company to Issue a Sustainability-Linked Bond We are proud to announce that PSL has successfully issued sustainability-linked bonds (“SLBs”), guaranteed by the Credit Guarantee and Investment Facility (CGIF), a trust fund of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The SLB issuance comprises two tranches, each valued at THB 680 million, with maturities of five and ten years, respectively, totaling THB 1.36 billion. This groundbreaking transaction, backed by CGIF’s AAA credit rating from TRIS Rating, enables PSL to secure long-term funding, diversify its financial sources, and extend its debt maturity profile while reducing dependence on traditional bank loans. The bonds were privately placed with institutional investors and high net worth individuals, issued under the ASEAN+3 Multi-Currency Bond Issuance Framework (“AMBIF”). PSL’s issuance marks a historic milestone as the first SLB by a shipping company in Asia, reflecting our commitment to reducing carbon emissions. By 2034, PSL aims to achieve a 38.54% reduction in CO₂ emissions per transport work, exceeding global standards set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). This initiative aligns with PSL’s strategy to maintain operational efficiency while contributing to global climate action. The ADB provided strategic support in developing PSL’s Sustainability-linked Finance Framework. This framework aligns with the ASEAN Capital Markets Forum’s Sustainability-linked Bond Standards and the International Capital Market Association’s Sustainability-linked Bond Principles. Lloyd’s Register issued a Second Party Opinion verifying the framework's adherence to these global standards. United Overseas Bank (Thai) Public Company Limited (“UOB Thailand”) served as the lead underwriter for the transaction. A nice picture of our vessel Issara Naree in Koper, Slovenia captured by Dr. Janez Pozar marked the end of a nearly two-month voyage that began in Dangjin, South Korea, with the vessel sailing around the Cape of Good Hope, past West Africa, then through the Mediterranean to the Adriatic Sea.
