Janet Flight 06:36
Do you ever feel like you’re the last one in the know when you should have been first? Outside your window the entire world is below, but it all feels rehearsed. And if they grant me a seat at the table would there be anything left to eat? I count the numbers but they never seem to repeat. It’s your life, but no one informed you, shouldn’t your life be something you sit at the wheel for? Just another non-existent terminal. So play it close to the chest, and help me fill in the rest. Because our lives are something we should sit at the wheel for. Sit at the wheel for. Sit at the wheel for. Do you ever feel like you’ve got nothing left to show, but you worked so hard all along? Sometimes the lyrics are right, but it isn’t the right song. And if they grant me the keys to the castle, am I ever gonna be free? I climb the branches, but I’m never on the right tree. It’s your life, but no one informed you, shouldn’t your life be something you sit at the wheel for? Just another non-existent terminal. So play it close to the chest, and help me fill in the rest. Because our lives are something we should sit at the wheel for. Sit at the wheel for. Do you ever feel like you’re the last one in the know, but you should have been first? You ever feel like your the last one in the know, But you should have been first? Our lives are something we should sit at the wheel for. Sit at the wheel for. Our lives are something we should sit at the wheel for. Do you ever feel like you’re the last one in the know?

That bucket of bolts really cut my teeth. Old blue paint job, gray underneath. It sure wasn’t much but it’s enough for you. It was enough for me. Some day we’ll have sons to tell our stories to. About you and me driving in baby blue. Laughing and smiling, even when the sun doesn’t shine. I don’t know much, I don’t know how, I don’t know when to take my final bow. But I don’t think about it all that much, I don’t think about it all that much, No, I don’t think about it all that much. Don’t mean much to me. No matter the toll road, we’re gonna pay the price. Driving like altar boys drunk on the blood of Christ. I think he’d get a good kick out of our mobile reveries. Some day you’ll have kids to tell your stories to. About your oldest friends and all that you would do. It’s lighting in a bottle, got to drink it whenever you can. I don’t know much, I don’t know how, I don’t know when to take my final bow. But I don’t think about it all that much, I don’t think about it all that much, No, I don’t think about it all that much. Don’t mean much to me. Sixty miles to go Before the boat flips, stuck without a paddle but that’s ok. Forty hours a week Is a long time to wait on adventure now, wouldn’t you say? Eighty times to say I love you never felt like enough, but I’m still gonna say it. I’m still gonna say it. I don’t know much, I don’t know how, I don’t know when to take my final bow. But I don’t think about it all that much, I don’t think about it all that much, No, I don’t think about it all that much. Don’t mean much to me.

Go grab a coffee and pull up a seat. I’ve got a great new deal on a big TV that you don’t need. I’ll never say that it’s too good to be true. If the deal’s too good, the product is you. When the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, They’ll set us up in a fight of opposing views. Cause when the deal’s too good, the product is… It’s just a matter of public relations. You never asked for my qualifications. It’s just business, baby. We do what we do. If the deal’s too good, the product is you. When the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, They’ll set us up in a fight of opposing views. When the deal’s too good, the product is… When the world is getting you down, You don’t have to be the product that they’re selling. And if it’s all going down, you can walk away. When the world is getting you down, You don’t have to be the product that they’re selling. And if it’s all going down, you can walk away. And if it’s all going down, you can turn away.

Happy birthday, did you get everything you wanted? That and more. Look up your life, up on the bookshelf, right by the window. Game on the TV. Most days I feel pretty good, And I think you should too. Did you read your zodiac, by the stadium diorama? Are you one to trust the cards? Are you one to send your worries down the line? By the stadium diorama. Are you one to trust the cards? Are you one to send your worries down the line? Down the line. Most days I stare at the oven, But it’s off, it’s cold. But I swear it’s gonna blow. I can feel it in my bones. Like I’m grasping at straws as they go out of style. So stay here with me and wait it out for a while? Most days I feel pretty good, And I think you should too. Did you read your zodiac, by the stadium diorama? Are you one to trust the cards? Are you one to send your worries down the line? By the stadium diorama. Are you one to trust the cards? Are you one to send your worries down the line? Down the line. Most days I feel pretty good, And I think you should too. Putting on the miles. Wish it ran like baby blue. But we had to take a chance. Here’s hoping that this one’s true. And we hope it's first of many. Hope the juice is worth the squeeze. Just another day of the week I cannot name offhand. I feel like I’m losing my senses, and changing all my plans. Hoping like a child. Wish I knew what I should do. Cause It took so long to find. Please don’t lose this one too. And of course there’s always plenty, until we count up all the beans. Just another way of the world that I didn’t understand. I hope I don’t burn all my favor back to where it all began. We're just tryin' to make some waves, Hoping this one will do, As we fly on past the cedars, For a journey long overdue. Try to make some waves, Maybe make a schilling or two, As we fly on past the cedars, And lay it all on the table. Reaching for the stars. I wish I had nothing to prove. But we trust in ourselves. It’s our own songs we choose. And the world doesn’t sugar coat it, But it’s still sweeter all the same. Standing alone in the field is the bravest part of all. Screaming our names in the wind, and never feeling small. We're just tryin' to make some waves, Hoping this one will do, As we fly on past the cedars, For a journey long overdue. Try to make some waves, Maybe make a schilling or two, As we fly on past the cedars, And lay it all on the table. We're just tryin' to make some waves, Hoping this one will do, As we fly on past the cedars, For a journey long overdue. Let’s go to Merry Arts, you can park at my house. Cancelled the late show, wind took the power out. The owner gave us a glare. That’s just his face, let’s be fair. I’d never been there myself. Deplete the bottom shelf. Isn’t it nice to have what you don’t need, when you don’t need it no more. So I want you to have it. Raise a glass so we can commemorate the little things for once. The booking took us on a journey to a faraway town. Set up the stage yourselves, so we could just tear it down. The owner paid us in beer. “But just the cheap stuff, you hear?” The other bands all seemed nice. Ran when they turned on the lights. Isn’t it nice to have what you don’t need, when you don’t need it no more. So I want you to have it. Raise a glass so we can commemorate the little things for once.

Old friends see me and say I've grown. But I still feel like a clueless kid in school. I go to work,I and I fill my cup, Pay the bills, and some debts, But I wouldn’t say that I know best. When a gen-er-ations dream dies, They pray for a verse in the songs of their children. I hope I have the will then, to scribble down a chapter, Here I am, stuck on the first page, again. The road out there is cold, but it's beautiful. The scenery is sweet, if you don't look back. And the sun still rises far from where it sets. I might be the first one in the know, But I wouldn't say that I know best. All of my old friends say that I’ve changed. But I still feel like I’m stumbling at best. Some friends have come, And others depart, But we're all still hobblin’ along. And at least I know my East from West. And everyone around me Has their own side to the story. An honest word is needed, Harsh but not defeating. Wouldn’t we be way better off If no one cared about the glory. The road out there is cold, but it's beautiful. The scenery is sweet, if you don't look back. And the sun still rises far from where it sets, I might be the first one in the know, But I wouldn't say that I know best. The road out there is cold, but it's beautiful. The scenery is sweet, if you don't look back. And though I never claimed that I know best. Least I was the first one in the know.

about

Stepping outside of our jam band roots, we really wanted to explore our love of progressive rock, melodic movements, 70s & 80s rock, and album-based writing. Our tastes have evolved a lot over the years, and with Steve & Mike's entry into the band, we are finally becoming what we want to be as artists and musicians. This album was produced by our keyboard player, Stephen Fabec, at his home studio.

A "JANET Flight", is an air-traffic code for "Just Another Non-Existent Terminal". It is a code reserved for flights that ferry government officials to and from restricted facilities, from the top brass to the back office. It's a background process that allows other things to happen. A cog in the machine, a ferry of sorts. We sometimes can find ourselves in periods where we don't feel like we are in control, we are not charting the course, just helping the process along. The message of this album is that we can call upon ourselves to challenge the destiny that was laid out for us, but to be aware that it can lead to harmony, rejection, love, pain, and anything in between.

"It's your life, but no one informed you. Shouldn't your life be something you sit at the wheel for? Just another non-existent terminal. So play it close to the chest, and help me fill in the rest, Because our lives are something we should sit at the wheel for." (Janet Flight chorus)
