Patrick Vizzone, international financier and co-founder of Vertical Oceans - a Singapore based shrimp farming operation – has been recognised as an honorary professor by the University of Manchester’s Alliance Manchester Business School (AMBS).
Having started his career in the fresh produce industry, and subsequently having spent over two decades in financial services, Vizzone has a wealth of business experience to share. Vertical Oceans, his current aquaculture venture focusses on the land-based production of shrimp, which can be delivered straight to the customer on the very same day of its harvest.
Vizzone also currently holds a board position for the International Fresh Produce Association, previously serving as the organisation’s treasurer and chair of the Global Development Committee. Additionally, he is a senior advisor to AgFunder, one of the world’s leading agri-food tech venture capital firms.
On his appointment, Patrick said, “This appointment is such an incredible honour and privilege. AMBS’s commitment to turning theory into practice and having a transformative impact on policy and practice resonates deeply with my personal and professional values. I look forward to helping solve some of the world's most pressing issues alongside our esteemed faculty and students,” according to a press release.
“Having someone of Patrick’s calibre and passion is immensely important to AMBS. Not only does Patrick bring a wealth of experience to his position, but we are excited to be challenged by him, too. As a business school, we must collaborate with external organisations and individuals to develop our original thinking further,” said Professor Ken McPhail of the Alliance Business School.
