NEW DELHI: The relentless monsoon season has significantly disrupted the education sector across India, leading to the postponement of numerous board and entrance exams. Heavy rains and subsequent waterlogging have compelled education boards and universities to reschedule exams to ensure the safety and well-being of students. This has affected lakhs of students who were gearing up for their crucial assessments.
Maharashtra
The monsoon season has caused significant disruptions for students in Maharashtra.
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has postponed several exams for Class 10 and 12 in districts heavily affected by the rains.
For Class 10, the Science and Technology Part 2 exam, initially scheduled for July 26, has been moved to July 31. The timing remains from 11 am to 1 pm. Similarly, the Class 12 exam set for July 31 has been rescheduled to August 9.
Mumbai University has also postponed all exams in Raigad and Ratnagiri districts following heavy rain alerts issued by the India Meteorological Department. Pooja Roudale, Director of Examination and Evaluation Board at Mumbai University, announced that new dates will be provided soon. This postponement only affects exams in these two districts.
At Savitribai Phule Pune University, exams scheduled for July 26 and July 27 for the School of Open and Distance Learning have been canceled. The new dates will be announced on the university website. Other university exams will continue as planned. For any doubts, college representatives should contact the Examination Department.

Gujarat
Gujarat is also facing challenges due to heavy rains. The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB) has postponed several exams in severely affected regions.
The Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC) has rescheduled the Gujarat Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET) 2024. Originally set for July 27 and 28, the exams will now tentatively take place on August 3 and 4. The revised counselling schedule will be available on July 30 on the official website, following a weather assessment.
Kerala
In Kerala, all schools and colleges in 11 districts have been closed on July 31 due to heavy rains. The affected districts include Kasaragod, Kannur, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Malappuram, Palakkad, Thrissur, Idukki, Ernakulam, Alappuzha, and Pathanamthitta.
MG University in Kannur has also postponed its exams due to the weather conditions. The university will announce new dates once the situation improves.
