Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD is now the highest grossing foreign film in North America this year, beating the likes of Demon Slayer and Godzilla Minus One

Nag Ashwin directed Kalki 2898 AD will long be remembered as one those films that rewrote box office history. The film has been doing that since the day of its release not only in India, but also in North America, one of the biggest markets for Telugu films.
In India, the film has already crossed Rs 600 crore mark across languages, and in Hindi, it has become the third highest grossing South films after Prashanth Neel and Yash’s KGF 2, and SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2- The Conclusion.The film has also gone on the become the second highest grossing Indian film of all time in North America, after beating Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan where it crossed US $ 17.5 million mark. Kalki 2898 AD is second only to SS. S. Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2- The Conclusion which has minted about US $ 20.77 million.
And now, Kalki 2898 AD has gone on to become the highest grossing foreign film of 2024 in North America, beating the likes of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba- To The Hashira Training, and Godzilla Minus One. Nag Ashwin’s mythological sci-fi film currently stands at US $ 18.3 million, whereas Demon Slayer folded up at US $ 17.65 million, and Godzilla Minus One at US $ 10.83 million.
It would be interesting to see where Kalki's journey ends, and if it will be able to beat Baahubali-2’s numbers. This is a rare occasion where Prabhas’ two films are amongst the top 3 highest grossing Indian films in North America.
Kalki 2898 AD stars Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas and Deepika Padukone in lead roles with SS Rajamouli, Ram Gopal Varma, Dulquer Salmaan , Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur in guest appearances.
