Bhajan Singh Rana, an auto-rickshaw driver from Uttarakhand who usually operates at night, has opened up about how he rushed Saif Ali Khan to the hospital after a stabbing incident at the actor’s Bandra residence in the early hours of Thursday.

Speaking to ETimes, Rana shared details of the incident and expressed his happiness at being able to save someone’s life. "Nobody called me, but I could hear the loud sound of a rickshaw, and a lady was coming toward my rickshaw. She told me, ‘Maar laga hai, hospital jaana hai’ (He’s injured, we need to go to the hospital)."

Rana admitted he did not recognize Saif initially and was unaware of his celebrity status. "I wasn’t aware that he was an actor, and I didn’t bother about that. I just saw a man bleeding and wanted to take him to the hospital," he explained.

Describing the scene, Rana mentioned that a young child, about 7-8 years old, and another man were present along with Saif. On reaching the hospital, the injured actor requested immediate medical assistance, saying, "Main Saif Ali Khan hoon. Mera jaldi se treatment chalu karo" (I am Saif Ali Khan. Start my treatment quickly).

Despite not being questioned by the police yet, Rana feels content with his actions. "I feel good that I have saved someone’s life and was able to be of help," he said.

When asked if he would meet Saif again, Rana said, "If Saif wishes to meet me, I will definitely meet him. If he wishes to give me a gift, agar woh unki khushi wali baat hai (if that is what makes him happy), how can I say no to him?"

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said the police have got several clues in the Saif Ali Khan attack case, and will arrest the culprit soon. Fadnavis, who holds the home portfolio, was talking to the media here. Dr Nitin Dange who performed the surgery, updated the media about his health. He said, "Saif has been discharged from the ICU and has been shifted to a special room. He also shared that Saif's condition is better and he can walk now, there's no problem in walking. "Mr Saif Ali Khan is doing excellent and we made him walk, he can walk well, there's no problem, there's no much pain or any other symptoms, so looking at his parameters, his wounds and all the other injuries, he is safe to be shifted out of the ICU to a special room. Only thing what we have advised and the rules for him that he has to take rest for some time because of the wounds on the back especially which can have chances of infection and his movements are restricted for a week almost for the most important reason that he had an injury in the spine and which has been repaired."

Reportedly the cops suspect that the intruder was known to one of the housekeepers working for the Khans and that's how he gained access to the house without being caught on CCTV cameras in the lobby. They believe he was familiar with the building layout and had used the fire shaft to reach the top floors after scaling the wall of an adjacent compound, sources said.

No underworld gang is behind the knife attack on Saif. Maharashtra minister of state for home Yogesh Kadam has now said, “A suspect who has been detained in connection with the attack is not part of any gang. No gang has carried out this attack,” Kadam told reporters in Pune. “There has been no intimation from Saif Ali Khan to police till date on whether he faced any threat,” the minister said. “He has not sought any security cover, but if he does so, we will follow due procedure,” he added. Kadam said theft was the only motive behind the attack on the actor.

Due to the delicate nature of his spine injury, there are restrictions on the number of guests allowed to visit him to prevent potential infection. The doctor stated in a media interaction that, "The fluid which was coming out has been repaired which has a potential chance for infection. That's why his movements and also the visitors' movements have been strictly restricted for his faster recovery and he is doing excellent and he is recovering very fast and God is kind."

The politician took to X and posted in Hindi saying, "Praying for the speedy recovery of the popular film star Saif Ali Khan. I request the government to ensure the safety of all artists."
