Throwback: When Katrina Kaif considered competing with 21-year-olds illogical

As today the actress turns a year older, let’s revisit the time when she discussed the pressures of the industry, her views on competition, and her personal approach to staying relevant.
Katrina Kaif, who began her career in 2003, has always been realistic about the industry's nature.Back in 2017, when asked if she felt the pressure seeing new faces in Bollywood, she had a clear and confident response. "Time does not stand still for anyone," she said during her conversation with Hindustan Times. Katrina believes that it’s futile to compete with younger newcomers. "I can’t—and shouldn’t—think that I am going to rewind myself and play a 21-year-old girl in a short pink miniskirt," she added, highlighting her practical approach to her career.

Katrina further elaborated on the industry's ruthlessness, describing it as a "game of survival." She acknowledged that trying to compete with 20 or 21-year-olds would be "insanity and, in fact, illogical." Instead, she focuses on her unique strengths and how she can be the best version of herself for each role. "That’s honestly what I am looking for and looking to enjoy," she explained, showcasing her grounded perspective.
Katrina Kaif's journey in Bollywood began with the 2003 film ‘Boom,’ directed by Kaizad Gustad. The film also starred big names like Amitabh Bachchan, Jackie Shroff, and Gulshan Grover. Despite a slow start, Katrina’s career picked up momentum with her roles in Telugu film ‘Malliswari’ and Bollywood hits like ‘Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?’, ‘Humko Deewana Kar Gaye,’ and ‘Namastey London.’ She was last seen in Sriram Raghavan’s ‘Merry Christmas,’ which featured Vijay Sethupathi. The film was notable for being shot simultaneously in Hindi and Tamil.

Their relationship is proof that matches are indeed made in heaven. During a promotional event for his film "Bad Newz," Vicky was asked about Katrina's birthday plans. He shared, "Plan yahi hai (The plan is to) just spend some quality time together," reflecting the couple’s desire to prioritize personal moments amidst their busy schedules.
Addressing rumors about Katrina's pregnancy, Vicky clarified, "Aur good news ki jo apne baat ki, woh jab aayegi toh (The good news that you are talking about) we'll be very happy to share whenever it happens, but until then, there's no truth to that, and it's only speculation."
