Prabhas starrer 'Kalki 2898 AD' mints $18.5 million in five weeks

'Kalki 2898 AD,' the futuristic dystopian epic directed by Nag Ashwin, has been breaking records since its release on June 27. The mytho-sci-fi film, featuring a star-studded cast including Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan, has completed five impressive weeks at the box office.
The film's success is not limited to domestic markets; it has been making headlines worldwide, particularly in the Western world.In North America, 'Kalki 2898 AD' has grossed a staggering $18.5 million by the end of its fifth week. Globally, the film's collections have surpassed Rs. 1100 crore, cementing its status as one of the highest-grossing Indian movies of all time.

Set in a dystopian future of the year 2898 AD, the movie tells the story of a society oppressed by dark forces led by Kamal Haasan's character, Supreme Leader Yaskin. Prabhas stars as Bhairava, a bounty hunter who is looking for a way to find a place in the Complex, while Deepika Padukone plays Sumathi (SUM-80), the mother of an unborn child prophesied to be the 10th and the final reincarnation of Lord Vishnu, destined to liberate the world. Amitabh Bachchan takes on the role of Ashwatthama, a protector of Sumathi, and Disha Patani appears as Roxie, another bounty hunter.

The film's cast also includes cameo appearances by Mrunal Thakur, Vijay Deverakonda, Dulquer Salmaan, Ram Gopal Varma, SS Rajamouli, and Brahmanandam. As the saga continues, fans are eagerly anticipating the sequel for the Kalki universe, which is already in the works.
