If you have a large backyard or home garden, at some or the other point you would have thought about decorating it with beautiful, aromatic plants. But, there are some plants and trees that are against Vastu principles! Here we list some of them.

Bonsai plants, while aesthetically pleasing, are not recommended to be kept at home according to Vastu. These miniature trees are seen as a symbol of stunted growth and can limit the growth of the family members as well. However for those who do not believe it, these are lovely additions to the home garden and perfect for small houses.

While miniature cacti looks cute as a decor item, it is not recommended to be planted at home. The prickly thorns of the cactus plants are seen as a form of hate, pain, and negativity. But plant lovers would disagree as they look lovely in small pots and can be grown with minimal effort.

Tamarind, or imli, is a sour tasting fruit that is enjoyed by children as candy. But, having a tamarind tree at home is not recommended according to Vastu principles. It is said that Tamarind actually attracts negative energy where it is grown. While there are some local and traditional beliefs which say that having tamarind tree at home invites illness.

The Cotton plant is not recommended for homes according to Vastu. It is believed that growing cotton plant inside the home can result in financial problems and wealth difficulties. However one scientific reason behind this might be that when fully grown, the cotton seeds cause breathing issues and asthama in sensitive people.

The Babool tree is often avoided in Vastu due to its thorny nature. It is believed to bring ill health and disputes among family members owing to its spikes. And by logic, little kids around the Babool tree and its thorns could result in energy.

According to Vastu, growing a Peepal tree in the home premises can lead to negative energy and stagnation in the house. Plus, the roots of Peepal are strong and can even uproot houses.

The beautiful English ivy is actually not a plant recommended by Vastu. Owing to its spreading nature, it is believed that the plant can absorb the positive energies and leave the room with a stagnant feel.

Although Henna is commonly used in auspicious occasions, planting a Henna tree at home is a strict ‘no-no’. It is said that Henna and its smell can attract all types of energies and so it is best to steer clear from it owing to the chance of negativity.
