In Pics: Anant Ambani-Radhika Merchant's Haldi ceremony

One of India's richest people, Mukesh Ambani's youngest son Anant Ambani is all set to tie the knot with Radhika Merchant on July 12. Ahead of their grand wedding, which will be held at Jio World in Mumbai, Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's haldi ceremony was held at Antilia on July 9. Anant Radhika's haldi wedding was attended by the who's who of Bollywood. From Salman Khan and Ranveer Singh to stars kids Jahnavi Kapoor, Ananya Panday, Sara Ali Khan, among others were in the presence at the Ambani-Merchant haldi ceremony.

Anant Ambani's uncle and aunt, Anil and Tina Ambani were also seen participating in the grand haldi ceremony. Their bahu, Khrisha Shah was also present for the auspicious ceremony.

Mukesh Ambani's sister Deepti Salgaocar was also seen at the haldi celebrations at Antilia on Monday. For the unversed, Mukesh Ambani has two younger sisters-- Deepti Salgaocar and Nina Kothari. Read more about them here ​

The parents of the bride, businessman Viren Merchant and his wife Shaila Merchant were also seen at Antilia. Viren Merchant is the CEO of Encore Healthcare Ltd and his wife Shaila Merchant is one of the Managing Directors of the company. She is also the Director of some other companies including Atharva Impex Private Limited, Swastik Exim Private Limited, among others.

One such pre-wedding ritual that is widely practiced among Hindus is the Haldi ceremony, which is done a few days before the main wedding celebrations. The Haldi ceremony, also called Pithi, is a fun tradition wherein the family members and close friends of the bride and groom apply a paste made of haldi (ie turmeric), sandalwood, rosewater, and other ingredients to them. In this ceremony, the yellow colour of the haldi signifies auspiciousness, purity, and new beginnings in life.

The practice of the Haldi ceremony symbolises purification, protection, and blessings for the new couple's life. Turmeric/ haldi, which is known for its antiseptic properties, is believed to cleanse the body and soul. It ensures the couple is free of any evil eye or bad omens. The ceremony, filled with joy and laughter, also strengthens family bonds and prepares the couple for their big day with a glow and positivity.
