India vs Zimbabwe Live Score: Zimbabwe will look to exploit home conditions: Masakadza

Having hurt the Shubman Gill-led India hard in the opening T20I in Harare, Zimbabwe spinner Wellington Masakadza said the tourists should take the home side lightly at their own risk, and added that they will exploit the home conditions to the maximum to win the five-match series.

A new-look India team suffered a 13-run loss to an inexperienced yet spirited Zimbabwe side in an upset of massive proportion.

India, who were recently crowned champions in the T20 World Cup albeit with a different set of players, were expected to blow away the Zimbabwean challenge when they restricted the home side to 115 for nine.

But Zimbabwe wrote their own script, reducing India to 28 for four in the Powerplay and then eventually bowling them out for 102 in 19.5 overs.

It was India's first loss in T20Is in 2024 and first against Zimbabwe in eight years.

Masakadza, who finished with figures of 1/15 in three overs, said: "We are trying to use our own conditions as much as we can against this Indian side. It's a second-string Indian side, but there are a lot of good players in there. So, we are looking forward to this series."

"We've had a few plans in place. We needed them to work and obviously, we are trying to use our own conditions as much as we can against this Indian side."

IND vs ZIM Live score: Need to bounce back stronger after collapse, says India leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi

India leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi said the team needs to bounce back stronger and return to the field for the second T20I with a fresh mind just a day after suffering an unexpected defeat against an inexperienced Zimbabwe side.

India faltered badly in the chase of 116 and were bowled out for 102 in the first T20I here on Saturday. The second match will be played here on Sunday.

“We are trying our best and we need to bounce back stronger. We just need to come back tomorrow (Sunday) with a fresh mind for the second match,” said Bishnoi in the post-match press meet.

Bishnoi said India failed to stitch together good partnership and that led to their downfall.

“It was a good game of cricket, but we collapsed, lost continuous wickets. A partnership would have made the game better for us. We could not do that. I think that made the difference,” he said.

“Zimbabwe's bowling and fielding were really good. They did not allow us to build partnerships,” he added.

14:42 (IST) Jul 07

This isn't a wicket where you get bowled out for 115. Credit to the bowlers of both sides but clearly an indication we need to up our skills. Our catching and ground fielding was amazing.

14:42 (IST) Jul 07

We bowled pretty well but we let ourselves down in the field. Everyone looked a bit rusty. We spoke about taking time and enjoying our batting but it didn't pan out that way. It would have been best for us if I stayed to the end. I was very disappointed with the way I got out.
