India vs England 2nd T20I Highlights: Tilak Varma holds nerve to take India to thrilling two-wicket win

Livingstone with a brilliant stop at the boundary keeps Varma to two runs off the first ball. Next ball, Varma (72* off 55 balls) finishes with a four through extra cover to signal India's victory. What brilliant head shown by the young man! India beat England by 2 wickets to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. But do not forget two crucial boundaries hit by Bishnoi, who ended up with an invulable 9* off 5 balls in a 20-run winning partnership with Varma in the end. Carse (3/29) and Rashid (1/14) kept England in the game, but Archer's spell of 1/60 proved damaging for the visitors.

Two balls, two denied singles by Varma. Third ball, he plays softly through the on-side and the batters sprint back to complete two runs. Varma takes a single off the fourth ball. And fifth ball, Bishnoi makes room to slash hard and finds the gap between point and third man to get four. Crowd goes berserk! Last ball, huge appeal for LBW against Bishnoi. Umpire shakes his head, England ask for a review. And the ball tracker shows it pitched outside leg. Not out. India 160/8. Six runs needed in the last over.

Brilliant flick by the tailender gets the crowd back up on its feet! India 153/8 in 18 overs, need 13 off 12 balls. Varma back on strike! Carse finishes his crafty spell at 3/29.

Rashid finishes his miserly spell with a brilliant one-run over, and the wicket of Arshdeep (6) off the last ball. Registers figures of 1/14 in 4 overs. India need 20 runs in 18 balls with two wickets in hand.

Another top-edge! Aonther six behind the wicketkeeper! Archer can only smile about it. Half-century for Varma in 39 balls. And if that wasn't enough, an almost ridiculous flat six at the backward-point region follows. What hitting, this! It didn't stop there. Arshdeep joins the fun, as he makes room, Archer folllows him, and an inside-edge races away to the fine-leg boundary. A couple in the end makes it 19 runs of the over. Game-changing over, probably! India 145/7; Varma 60*, Arshdeep 6*. Archer finishes with 1/60 in 4 overs.

Buttler brings Livingstone on to bowl and manages to buy a wicket as Axar Patel (2) plays a risky shot and finds the fielder in the deep. India seven down - 126/7 in 14.5 overs. All depends on Varma now, as Arshdeep walks in to join him.

Carse takes his third wicket as he castles Sundar for 26 off 19 balls. A useful hand by him, which has revived India's run-chase. But a lot now depends on Varma (40* off 33) as Axar Patel walks in to bat. India 119/6 in 14 overs, need 47 runs in 36 balls.

Dropped! Rashid puts down Washington Sundar (10) at mid-on. Wood can't believe it! Will that prove costly? And a no-ball follows; the free-hit delivery is hit for a SIX by Sundar, bringing up India's 100 in 12.4 overs. And he follows that up with a four in the long-off region. And he once again clears mid-off for another four to end the over. 18 runs off it. Dropped catch proving costly already. India 113/5 in 13 overs.

Overton's attempted bouncer goes well over the batter's head and also beats wicketkeeper Salt, runs away to the fence behind him for five wides. 13 runs from the over in total. Much needed by India, who have reached 95/5 in 12 overs.

Another good over from Rashid, gives away just three runs which takes the required run-rate to over 9 runs an over. Just four runs in the last 12 balls. India 82/5 in 11 overs.

Jamie Overton strikes on the first ball of his spell to make it five down for India, who are now in more than a bit of trouble with Hardik Pandya walking back, caught by Phil Salt, for 7. India 78/5 in 9.1 overs, chasing 166 to win. And Overton finishes the over with just one run off it to make it 79/5 in 10 overs.

Rashid comes back well after conceding a four to Varma (34*) and limits it to 7 runs in the over. India 78/4 in 9 overs.

Wickets tumbling for India! Carse strikes again, sends Jurel back for 4, caught at mid-wicket by substitute fielder Rehan Ahmad. India 66/4 in 7.4 overs, need exactly 100 more runs to win in 12.2 overs. Hardik Pandya is in the middle now to join Varma.

India 59/3 at the end of six overs. England were 58/2 at the same stage. So nothing in it at the moment. Dhruv Jurel joins Tilak Varma (26* off 15).

Against the run of play, India captain Suryakumar Yadav (12) falls, as he drags the ball onto his stumps while trying to guide it to the third-man area. India 58/3 in 5.4 overs.

Carse tries a short ball first up, but Varma up for it and hooks for another SIX.

Archer looks to follow Varma, but he stays in his crease, which creates a nice angle for him to pick the ball off his hips for a massive SIX behind deep backward square leg. What a hit! And it follows a top-edge SIX, as Varma tries to pull but finds an edge, and the pace of Archer's ball ensured it carried well over the fence behind the wicketkeeper. India's fifty comes up in 4.4 overs. 51/2 in 5 overs. Surya 12* off 6 balls, Varma 19* of 11.

After good first four balls by Wood to Varma, Surya gets back on strike and flicks a 152.7kmph delivery for four to move to 12 off 5 balls. India 34/2 in 4 overs.

India captian fighting fire with fire, smashes two fours to announce himself, which makes it 11 runs and a wicket from Archer's second over. India 28/2 in 3 overs.

Samson departs, was looking uncomfortable with the genuine pace from Archer and Wood, with the former clearly trying to cramp Samson for room by bowling into his ribs, and he succumbs to Archer's pressure and pace, walks back for 5, caught in the deep. India 19/2 in 2.3 overs.

Umpire nods in favour of the LBW appeal by the bowler against Abhishek, who consults his partner Samson and then signals for a review. But the decision is upheld. Abhishek gone for 12. India 15/1 in 1.3 overs.

Abhishek starts from where he left off, a beautifully-timed cover-drive on the up against Archer for four. But it doesn't take long for him to turn flamboyant as he charges down the track on the fifth ball of the over to smack Archer over exta-cover for another four. And the left-hander ends the over with another four, this time through the vacant third-man area. India 13/0 in 1 overs.

Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson are out on the field to start India's chase of England's 165/9 for a 2-0 lead in the series. Will Abhishek repeat his heroics of the first match? Or will it be Samson taking over the big-hitting show? Jofra Archer to start with the ball for England.

Indian spinners took six of the nine England wickets to fall to restrict the visitors to under 170, and vice-captain Axar Patel, who took 2/32, believes that "this is a very much chaseabale target". Bowling his third over, the left-arm pacer needs two more wickets to reach the 100-wicket mark in T20Is. But Rashid (8*) and Archer (7*) are collecting some useful runs here. Nine runs off the over, thanks to the four through the covers by Archer to end the over. England 153/8 in 18 overs.

Disaster for England! Carse has been sold a dummy by Jofra Archer, and after batting so well for his 31 off 17 balls, Carse has to take the long walk back. England 137/8 in 16.1 overs.

SIX over long-on, SIX over backward square leg. Chakravarthy at the receiving end of Carse's bat. But the strike changes, and the Indian spinner cleans up Jamie Overton (5) off the last ball of his spell to finish with 2/38. England 136/7 in 16 overs. Carse batting on 30 off 16 balls.

Brydon Carse starts on a big-hitting note, first a six over long-on and then a late-cut for four against Axar. England 118/6 in 14 overs.

Smith welcomes the part-timer with a six and four off the first two balls, and then trying to hit a third boundary, he hits it straight down the throat of Tilak Vama. Abhishek is ecstatic. Smith walks back for 22 off 12 balls. England 104/6 in 12.3 overs.

Axar strikes again, as Livingstone (13) finds substtitute fielder Harshit Rana at the end of his aerial pull shot. England's 'Bazball' once again proving a flash in the pan here - 90/5 in 11.1 overs.

Debutant Smith takes just taks three deliveries to get the measure of Chakravarthy, and hits the fourth ball he faced straight over mid-off for SIX. Superb timing as well. England 90/4 in 11 overs. Smith batting on 11, Livingstone on 13.

The ever-aggressive England captain tries to hit Axar Patel for a SIX but finds Tilak Varma, who takes an easy catch. Buttler gone for 45 off 30. England 77/4 in 9.3 overs. Drinks on the field.

The new batter, Livingstone, slog-sweeps Chakravarthy and gets four, as the ball fell just wide and short of the mid-wicket fielder. England 74/3 in 9 overs.

Bishnoi continues with his leg-spinners, and he comes up with a good over. Just five runs off it. England 66 for 3 in 8 overs. Buttler on 43 off 26, Livingstone on 2.

Varun gets Brook (13), as the ball finds the gap between bat and pad to hit the top of off-stump. The batter had no clue. England 59/3 in 6.3 overs.

And goes up in appal straight away, as the ball hits Buttler's stumps, but the umpire shakes his head. Captain Suryakumar takes review. But it stays umpire's call. Not out! Buttler, on 37, survives.

England won't be too unhappy, although they would have wanted to be just a wicket down instead of the two that they have lost. Buttler is on 37 and Brook on 13. England 58/2 in 6 overs.

Buttler welcomes the leg-spinner with a SIX to bring up England's fifty in 5.1 overs.

While Buttler (27*) continues to blaze away, Brook (12*) has come out firing as well, hitting Axar Patel for a six and four off consecutive balls. England 47/2 in 5 overs.

Duckett (3) departs trying to reverse-sweep Washington Sundar, but mis-hits and the ball goes off his helmet to Dhruv Jurel at point for a simple catch. A wicket off the first ball of the spell for Washi! England 26/2.

Clearly, England see Arshdeep as a threat and are trying to take him on and not let him settle. Buttler comes charging down to hit four second ball and then doposits the ball behind long-on for a SIX, followed by making room and hitting the last ball of Arshdeep's over through the covers for four. 16 runs off the over. Buttler on 18 off 10. England 26/1 in 3 overs.

Bowls a short one, Duckett misses and his hit on the helmet. Physio runs in for the mandatory concussion-check. But it's all good. Just two runs off the over. England 10/1 in 2 overs.

Trying to pull a short one from the off-stump, Salt finds the deep square leg fielder, Washington Sundar, to perfection and is walking back for 4. Once again, Arshdeep strikes in the first over. Eight runs in the over, but a wicket too! England 8/1

Phil Salt and Ben Duckett are out to open for England. Arshdeep will run with the new ball for India. Big in-swing first ball, and it has been flicked over mid-wicket for four by Salt.

"We would have bowled first as well. Same gameplans, look to do better. Hopefully it'll be a good pitch and match. Bethell is unwell, Jamie Smith comes in. Atkinson misses out, Carse comes in," said England captain Jos Buttler at the toss.
