John Cena returned to WWE on the first RAW on Netflix to begin his eagerly awaited retirement tour. However, it seems that The Champ might have dropped subtle hints regarding winning a 17th World title in the process.
John Cena is regarded as one of the biggest WWE superstars of all time. After being in the business for almost 23 years, Cena has now embarked on the last journey of his WWE career as an in-ring performer with his farewell tour that he announced back at the 2024 Money in the Bank Premium Live Event.
John Cena returned to WWE on RAW’s debut show on Netflix to kick off the tour. During his heartfelt promo, Cena might have dropped some subtle hints that could be hinting towards winning his record-breaking 17th World title.

What hints did John Cena might have accidentally dropped during his promo on RAW on Netflix?

John Cena made his first address since announcing his farewell tour on RAW on Netflix's debut show. The Face that Runs the Place acknowledged all the speculation regarding his last run, including top matches the fans can see and most importantly, whether Cena would chase his 17th World title. However, much to their disappointment, Cena stated that he did not see that happening.
But after hearing the loud fan reaction and support from the audience, John Cena reconsidered his words and thought of impromptu solutions that could help him earn a World Championship or at least an opportunity to compete for it.
Cena said, “The only way I could get a championship match is to win Money in the Bank briefcase or survive the Elimination Chamber. I mean, you have to win the Royal Rumble.”

As witnessed at the end of the promo, Cena declared himself for the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble match in hopes of earning a World title match. However, as many fans and analysts said, winning the Rumble would be a tall task and seems unlikely for Cena based on numerous factors.
But John Cena, being the superstar he is, might have kept other plans ready that he accidentally revealed in his promo. Should Cena fail to outlast 29 other competitors in the Royal Rumble, the next stop could be him competing in the Elimination Chamber match to win the title opportunity.
However, if Cena fails inside the Chamber as well, the last golden opportunity that can bring him closer to his 17th World title would be the coveted Money in the Bank contract. Cena won it in 2013 and could do it again. This would make the possibility of John Cena becoming a 17-time WWE Champion more real than ever before he hangs up his boots for good at the end of 2025.
