Former WWE champ Tommy Dreamer has recently honed in on the opening segment of this week’s Raw, featuring
Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre, and CM Punk. He said that something was missing from the spectacle. He elucidated his thoughts on a recent episode of "Busted Open After Dark" podcast, and pointed out that WWE was playing it safe with the segment.
Dreamer believed that the segment was downplayed quite a lot saying, "A lot of the main players [in the opening segment] ...
the go-home show, I was talking earlier before, it's either being [like] you're gonna play safe because you don't want to risk injury or giving too much before the go-home show because we have a massive pay-per-view coming up, stadium full of people. Or are you gonna push the envelope? I think some people put the pedal to the metal and other people kinda played it a little bit safe." (Credit: Wrestling Inc)
“I wish the crowd was a little bit more into it”
Although the veteran did commned the segment’s overall presentation, he couldn't help but feel like the crowd wasn’t psyched enough. He stated, "In my opinion, this match and this segment, that went almost 17 minutes, I wish the crowd was a little bit more into it…But I didn't get the overall going crazy of this crowd up until the main event. "
Dreamer went on to shower praises for the three superstars who were in focus and praised the decision of bringing in Rollins as special guest referee. He said, “But if I get back to the CM Punk, Drew McIntyre, DIU Tribe and the addition with Seth Rollins, I really do feel that it had intrigue for this match because what I said previous, you know, someone's gonna piss each other off.”
Dreamer also commented on Drew McIntyre’s plan to bring in more cash by beating up CM Punk, hilariously stating, “Another great tidbit that Drew McIntyre added — and I loved it — he said he is going to be paid a lot of money to kick CM Punk's arse because it's at a stadium show.”
The WWE veteran has been a major figure in the world of wrestling, boasting an illustrious career in the business spanning over three decades. There are recent rumours floating about that Dreamer might be a contender for an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame. Only time will tell if this rumour materializes soon.
