Ashwini Ponnappa, a seasoned Indian badminton player at the age of 34, continues to represent her country in both women's and mixed doubles events on the global badminton stage. Alongside her current partner, Tanisha Crastro, she holds the World No. 20 ranking in women's doubles.

In the past, Ponnappa had a successful partnership with Jwala Gutta, with whom she secured several medals in international tournaments. Their achievements included bronze medals from the Asian Badminton Championships and the Uber Cup, as well as a gold medal from the Commonwealth Games. The duo consistently maintained a position within the top 20 of the BWF World Ranking, even reaching as high as number 10 at one point.
