Arti Singh on not inviting Asim Riaz at her wedding, says ‘I wish him well but I wanted my shaadi to be a friend-studded one and not star-studded’

In a candid interview, Arti Singh opened up about her decision not to invite Asim Riaz to her wedding, her memorable stint on Bigg Boss 13, and the financial struggles she faced. She also shared how her brother, Krushna Abhishek, supported her through tough times, and delighted fans with her heartwarming proposal story and more personal insights.

But if you look at my work, after Bigg Boss, I think I'm the only contestant who has done very little work. Shehnaaz, Shefali, Asim, Vishal, everyone is working. I am the only one, who actually didn't get seen that much. I mean, I didn't do a lot of brands. I see everyone has done songs. I did one song during the time of marriage. It was a Punjabi song. Not that I'm working a lot right now. But people didn't even know about it before. I think that's also a reason.

Though Asim was good, aur uske saath banti thi but I never felt that warmth with him. I always want he does good in life. But hum dono ki bahut khit-pit hoti thi. We would meet in the gym, I would say hi but never felt that connection. It's possible that I did something wrong in his heart, or he felt bad about something. It's quite possible. It's not necessary that he's wrong. It's possible that I'm wrong too. It's possible that there's something in his heart. My wedding was the happiest day of my life. It was the biggest dream of my life. I wanted to invite only those people who were happy. I didn’t want a star-studded wedding, I wanted a friend-studded wedding.

It was a function much before the wedding functions. It was Mata Ki Chowki and Dipak arranged that welcome with fireworks because I like it. Everyone commented that, ‘chooda nahi pehna’, ‘sindoor nahi hai’It wasn't even a function, it was my welcome. It was just the family.

I went to New Year's in Kashmir with Dipak before marriage. He had gotten a ring, which he gave to me but didn’t propose. After that, on the 1st, we went to Guruji. Then, inside Guruji's big temple, I got engaged. When we started talking, I had left everything in Guruji’s hands. He is everything for me, he is my father. I told Dipak, whenever shaadi has to happen it will happen. He did the sweetest thing. He figure out the address and went straight to his temple to meet him to ask my hand. Mere liye aadhi shaadi wahin pe pakki ho gayi thi.

I was 18 years old. I did a show as lead within 3 months of coming to Mumbai. I was studying in SNET college at that time. Then I left that show in 4 months. No. 1 show. Because something happened with the producer. But I said, don't do anything wrong with the producer. All the artists left the show overnight. Then everyone did another show. I did another show. Actually, I worked continuously in the beginning. Then I did Parichay. After that, kaafi lamba break agaya.

My brother has always supported me. Krushna has always supported me. So, I... I won't lie. Mentally, career-wise, I had a lot of struggle because I was the first person from the family, who started working, the one who came on TV, the one who was printed on the front page of the newspaper with Chichi Mama. And I became the flop. And my show came, Thoda Hai Thode Ki Zaroorat Hai on 7 o'clock slot. And Ragini's (cousin) show was Sasural Genda Phool. And my show became flop and hers became hit. And she's such a good actor. That was bound to happen. Everyone does good work in our family. But it's just that my show was stopped in three months. Her show went on for three years. But after that, my downfall started career wise. Then I didn't get work for a long time. I had a lot of mental struggles. I didn't have that much financially. Because my brother was working and he supported me always. Financially. I mean, I've never... I won't lie, I'm not used to it. He bought me a car, he even gave me a house to live in. Like how a father does.

For me, the rise was Bigg Boss. That's why I was very weak when I entered Bigg Boss. I used to think that I'll break at any time. But I knew that this is the last chance. Either it's done or it's gone. And... I was lucky that I ended up in the top five. I didn't struggle financially. But I had a lot of mental struggles. A lot. I went into depression.

I don't have any plans. I think ... Honestly, whenever I plan something, it never comes true. I had thought with this time, I would get married. But it didn’t happen. Then I got married. I have left everything to Guru Ji. When I have left everything and surrendered, when Guruji will go, everything will happen automatically. I have stopped planning my life. And I am very happy. I don't know. When I said, when Guruji will write, it will happen automatically.
