Exclusive - Asit Kumar Modi reacts to Popatlal's wedding getting cancelled; says 'We wanted to use the popularity of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah to create awareness about Thalassemia'

In the latest episode of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, viewers experienced a whirlwind of emotions as Popatlal and Madhubala's engagement was abruptly called off. Despite their deep affection for one another, they had to abandon their wedding plans due to medical complications. The episode took a dramatic turn when Dr. Hathi revealed that both Popatlal and Madhubala are Thalassemia minor carriers.This genetic disorder leads to lower hemoglobin levels and poses significant risks if two carriers marry. Now, Producer Asit Kumar Modi has responded to the latest track about Thalassemia awareness, "I understand that the audience is disappointed that Popatlal didn't get married, but I would like to ask them to look at the bigger picture. Through this episode, we aimed to deliver a very strong message to society. I believe that conveying the message about Thalassemia was far more important than Popatlal’s wedding. His marriage can happen in another episode, but this crucial message about Thalassemia needs to be shared."
He further shared, "In our country, many people are not very aware of medical issues, so we wanted to use the popularity of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah to create awareness. I found it very noble to spread awareness in this way. As a producer of the show, I wanted to provide the audience not just entertainment but also a social message, which is why we did this. I believe people will appreciate our efforts and love the storyline, understanding that through entertainment and comedy, we are delivering an important message. I know the audience might feel a bit disappointed, but just as Popatlal never loses hope, neither should they. Eventually, Popatlal will get married, and I'm sure the higher powers will make it happen in the right time."
