He started his career years ago as a contestant in Rakhi Ka Swayamvar (2009), but Manmohan Tiwari is glad that he managed to break away from that image and become an actor. He says, “I never participated in the show to get married to Rakhi Sawant. Everyone knew that it was staged and there would be no marriage. But the show did give me fame. However, my dream since childhood was to become an actor and post the reality show, I focused only on that.”
Manmohan, who has acted in shows like Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya,
Kumkum Bhagya and Hum Hain Na, says, “Reality shows do give you recognition, but that doesn’t last for long.
People tend to forget you if you don’t get good work.” Currently seen playing the antagonist Shakti mama in Mishri, he is also shooting for another upcoming show, in which he will play a negative role. He says, “It seems the makers like to cast me in villain roles. I am happy because these roles give you scope to perform.”
‘Just being a talented actor is not enough’A career in showbiz is never easy. Manmohan shares, “In the last decade, I have faced tremendous challenges as an actor. In addition to performing in front of the camera, life today is also about being active on social media. We have to learn how to market ourselves well. Just being a talented actor is not enough. Everyone around you is creating reels, vlogs, having their own channels and promoting content. It is sometimes overwhelming because at the end of the day, an actor just wants good roles. But now, to get those roles, your social media skills also matter.”
