A 14-year-old girl with a substantial social media following of 150,000, tragically lost her life on July 22 while taking photos with her friends at the Sinywa Waterfall in south-east Myanmar.
The incident occurred when the girl slipped on the wet stones and was carried away by the strong current, ultimately becoming trapped between two large boulders.
Despite her efforts to break free, the teenager was unable to escape the powerful water surging around her, leading to her drowning at the well-known tourist spot in the town of Paung, Mon state. Rescue teams rushed to the scene but faced difficulties in retrieving the girl's body in a timely manner.
On the following day, July 23, dramatic video footage captured the efforts of volunteers and firefighters as they worked to dislodge the lifeless girl's body from the rocks.
The rescuers can be seen tying ropes around her hands and pulling her out of the narrow space. Mon Zaw, a rescue worker, said, "The one who slipped reached the bottom, but died after getting stuck between the rocks. She died because she couldn't get out. They tried to rescue her but couldn't pull her out. Then the aid organizations and officials came."
Following the recovery of Moe's body, it was transported to the Paung Township General Hospital for a post-mortem examination. In a fortunate turn of events, Nay's friend, who had also slipped down the waterfalls, sustained only minor injuries during the incident.
