On January 31, the Board of Directors of AmCham Tajikistan participated in the Strategic Session of the Regional AmChams Board meeting, alongside board members from AmCham Kyrgyz Republic, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan. During the session, representatives from the regional AmChams engaged in discussions on the future vision for AmChams in Central Asia, focusing on key priorities such as: 🔹Promoting investment opportunities across the region 🔹Enhancing member-to-member (M2M) services to foster business collaboration 🔹Strengthening regional policy and advocacy efforts in partnership with governments to support private sector growth and create a more business-friendly environment The session concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by the Board of Directors of AmCham Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, and Uzbekistan. This milestone marks a significant step toward deepening regional cooperation.

The Annual AmCham New Year’s Business Reception, held on December 5, brought together AmCham members and partners. The event was inaugurated with opening remarks by Mr. Manuel P. Micaller, U.S. Ambassador to Tajikistan, and Mr. Gagan Malhotra, Chairman of the AmCham Board of Directors. Both emphasized the critical role of the private sector in driving the country’s economic development. Last week, Gulnora Razykova, vice chairwoman of AmCham Board of Directors, and Nilufar Bulbulshoeva, Executive Director AmCham Tajikistan as a part of delegation of private and public sector from Tajikistan, participated at the CLDP (Commercial Law Development Program) Women’s Economic Empowerment Working Group meeting. This important event focused on the role of gender-based data disaggregation in promoting women’s economic participation across Central Asia. The meeting provided a platform for key stakeholders, including policymakers, business leaders, and development experts, to share best practices and discuss the challenges women face in the business environment. A central theme was the need for more robust gender-sensitive data to better understand and address the unique barriers women encounter in entrepreneurship, access to finance, and workforce participation. On November 29, the American Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with USAID Tajikistan, IFC - International Finance Corporation and CIPE Europe & Eurasia organized a B2G (Business-to-Government) meeting between its members and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan. The meeting focused on the presentation and discussion of the National Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Standards for Tajikistan, developed collaboratively by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Tajikistan. This initiative aims to engage the private sector in adopting and implementing these standards to foster sustainable business practices across the country. Mission director of USAID - John P. Riordan gave the welcoming speech and highlighted the importance of implementing ESG standards in the country. During the session, members of AmCham Tajikistan actively participated in discussions on ESG standards and reporting methods, shared their concerns, and provided recommendations for effective implementation. Looking ahead, the American Chamber of Commerce in Tajikistan remains committed to advancing ESG initiatives through the "Enhancing Corporate Sustainability through ESG Integration" project, in collaboration with USAID Tajikistan.
