🔍 Tagging without structure? Good luck finding your pieces! 😅 When it comes to assembly, labeling your components correctly can save you tons of time. Here’s how I keep things organized with OpenNest: 🛠️ Organize your plates: We start by revisiting those tags on the perpendicular plates, making sure each tag aligns with its corresponding slit. 🔗 Solid intersections: Create intersections for each solid to ensure all the parts fit perfectly. 🏷️ Tag everything: From P0 to P29, each part gets its proper label for easy identification during assembly. 🔗 Curious about this process? 🎯 Recipe for disaster? Laser cutting without labels!🛠️ Before sending your pieces to the laser cutter, you need precise labels so you know exactly where each piece goes! Here’s how to ensure a flawless labeling process in Grasshopper: ✏️ Explode your curves and identify the ones at the top. 📍 Sort them based on their midpoint coordinates. 📋 Use text tags for clear, easy-to-read labels that can be carved directly! 🚀 Labeling made simple with the right tools! 🔧 Organizing laser cut pieces is a headache? 💥 It doesn’t have to be! The trick to flawless laser cutting prep is orienting your curves correctly before sending them to the cutter! Here's the method I use to ensure perfect alignment every time: 1️⃣ Create a series of points for orientation on a 2D plane. 2️⃣ Rotate each curve to make sure they’re positioned accurately. 3️⃣ Check that everything’s centered to avoid any misaligned cuts. 4️⃣ Add labels to each curve for easy assembly post-cutting! 🔗 Curious how it's done? 💡 Tired of wasting time figuring out which piece goes where? 🎯 You don’t have to struggle with confusion anymore! When every piece looks similar but is slightly different, labeling becomes essential. Here's how to make your life easier with precise labeling for laser-cut pieces using Grasshopper: 1️⃣ Start with Text Tag 3D – Add the labels directly to each piece in your 3D model for easy identification. 2️⃣ Align the labels – Ensure they’re on the same plane as your pieces for perfect placement. 3️⃣ Name everything – Use a smart naming convention like “P0, P1, P2” and generate numbers based on the total item count. 4️⃣ Make it readable – Rotate and adjust the text size to ensure labels are clear and aligned correctly. 5️⃣ Stay organized – Labels should be large enough to read but not cluttering your model. 🚀 Speed up your assembly! A well-labeled project means no more guessing games during assembly. 🎥 Watch the step-by-step tutorial here: https://lnkd.in/dFGC4uKA 👇 Have you used labeling in Grasshopper before? 🔗 Glueless connections are possible! ⚙️ Not without precise calculations! Interlocking joints can be executed in many ways. But in this case, it’s pretty straightforward! Here’s a breakdown on creating precise locations on pieces: 1️⃣ Vertical pieces (green) are moved out half of their width from the horizontal pieces (red). 2️⃣ Red pieces are subtracted from the green ones. This creates slits on the green pieces. 3️⃣ Green pieces are moved back to their original location and then subtracted from the red ones. 💡 And there you have it! Now you know the logic behind this technique! 🎥 Curious for more? Here’s the tutorial: https://lnkd.in/dFGC4uKA 🤔 Have you used this before?

😤 It's annoying not knowing a component name! ✨ I'm saving you NOW from this problem forever! 🙌 I find it extremely frustrating when I can't figure out the name of a component, especially when following a tutorial. 😩 Back in 2016, during a workshop, I was introduced to a game-changer: the Bifocals plugin, and I've been using it ever since! 🔧👓 This amazing tool labels each component right on top of it! 🎉 Here’s how to use it in 3 simple steps: 1️⃣ Double-click on the canvas, type "Bifocals," and get the component. 2️⃣ Zoom in on the goggles icon. 👀 3️⃣ Double-click the goggles to activate the component! 🎯 You're done! Now, every component on your canvas shows its name! 🎯 Here's the link to download the plugin: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dQ-FMS4E 🚀 Share this if you found it useful! 😄🔄

❗You don’t know how to learn! Yes, me either! 😅 Lately, I’ve been reflecting on the process of learning, especially in design and architecture. 🏛️✏️ I recently read a chapter from Making by Tim Ingold, and it made me think deeper about what it means to truly learn in the world of design. 🌿 Design isn’t linear. It’s a learning loop—a cycle of discoveries that keep building on themselves. 🔄 But here’s the thing: design students are often expected to learn by simply doing exercises, homework, and projects. 🛠️ But what if learning isn’t about ticking off tasks, but about self-discovery through the process itself? 🤔 If that’s true, how should we, as educators, structure our teaching in architectural design? Should we create an environment where students observe, participate, and draw connections from their past experiences? Should we guide them down personalized paths that focus on learning how to learn? 🧠💡 What do you think? How can we better nurture the design learning process? 🤷♂️💭

4-steps to create planar surfaces on any geometry! Step 3 is crucial! 🚀 Laser cut prep isn't just about layering and nesting. It’s about modeling with fabrication in mind. 🛠️ Here’s how you can create planar surfaces on any organic form: 1️⃣ Start with planar curves. 2️⃣ Extend them in both directions. ↔️ This ensures you cut the surfaces at the right location. 🎯 3️⃣ Offset the curves inward. 🔄 This step is crucial! Offsetting can go inward or outward, so: 🗂️ Create a bounding box around the curves. ↕️ Offset the curves in both directions. 📍 Find the centroid of the bounding box. 📏 Sort the offset curves by their distance to the centroid (Inner vs. Outer offset). 4️⃣ Use loft to create surfaces. ✨ Your surfaces might extend beyond your main surface, but don’t worry—that’s intentional! 😉 More on that in the coming days. 🎥 Watch the full process in action: https://lnkd.in/dFGC4uKA Missed the previous post? Catch up here: https://lnkd.in/d-VDmcA7 I believe sorting data—whether geometric or not—is one of the most critical aspects of parametric modeling. 🧠💡 What do you think? Let’s discuss! 💬 PS: Share this with your network to get their thoughts too! 🔗✨
