As highlighted in the recent The World Bank #GlobalEconomicProspects report, Azerbaijan is steadily solidifying its position as a compelling destination for international investors. Key insights demonstrating Azerbaijan’s robust economic landscape include: ✅ Stable Economic Growth: Azerbaijan’s economy is projected to grow at a healthy pace of 2.5% in 2024, with expectations for continued steady growth into 2025-2026 driven by strong performance in non-oil sectors and increased natural gas exports. ✅ Economic Diversification Success: The non-hydrocarbon sectors are experiencing significant growth, expanding by 4.6% in 2023. 🔔 A major step forward for Europe's raw materials security.   Today, I am proud to share that EIT RawMaterials, together with EIT InnoEnergy, has been awarded the mandate to implement the Critical Raw Materials Facility - a groundbreaking new initiative from the DG International Partnerships (INTPA) of the European Commission to strengthen EU supply chains and secure access to critical raw materials.   Importantly, the CRM Facility will be a key lever to deliver on the Critical Raw Materials Act, setting us on a #RaceTo2030 to ensure that no more than 65% of our annual consumption of CRMs comes from a single third country.   Raw materials security is not only key to Europe’s industrial competitiveness — it is fundamental to European security. With this Facility, Europe is signalling that we are ready to move from ambition to action. But achieving resilient supply chains will require global partnerships, serious investment, and innovation across the entire value chain - from mining and refining to recycling and advanced materials.   At EIT RawMaterials, we are proud to lead this effort, building on our leadership of the European Raw Materials Alliance (ERMA) and our track record as trusted partner to industry and governments.   Through the CRM Facility, together with InnoEnergy, we will: ✅ Work with partner countries to diversify Europe’s supply of critical raw materials ✅ Support win-win projects that benefit host nations, communities and European industry alike ✅ Deliver skills and training to strengthen the raw materials workforce ✅ Build new value chains that reinforce Europe's strategic autonomy   Let us be clear, as we race towards 2030 Europe must act decisively - and act now - to secure the raw materials that power our clean energy transition, digital economy, and defence capabilities. Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan Strengthen Partnership within the Middle Corridor Uzbekistan’s cooperation with Azerbaijan within the Middle Corridor plays a crucial role in enhancing regional connectivity and economic integration. In an interview with Trend, former Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov, speaking at the 12th Global Baku Forum, emphasized that the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan is built on a high level of trust and strong friendship between the leaders of both countries. 📌 Key Highlights: ✅ Joint Textile Project in Khankendi – a successful example of economic collaboration. ✅ Infrastructure Development – with Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Azerbaijan expanding port capacities in Aktau, Turkmenbashi, Baku, and Alat to facilitate trade and logistics. ✅ Caspian Sea Initiatives – Uzbekistan is investing in ferry construction, despite lacking a direct border with the sea, to boost its participation in transport projects. ✅ China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway – a major project championed by Uzbekistan’s leadership, set to reduce transport distances by 900 km and deliver goods to Europe in just 5–7 days. Norov emphasized that Central Asian countries, especially Uzbekistan, need efficient routes to global markets. The Middle Corridor, tracing the historic Silk Road, holds immense economic potential. Fully activating it could revive prosperity along this ancient trade route.
